And Florida is a much more attractive team to "sell" (for those that believe that!) if they have some star players on roster.

So... they could go after Eichel... but I think Laine is a more-efficient-play for FLA.
eichel playing with hubby would be fun to watch too.

I think the return is overstated and wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo ends up with less than many think they will get. I really don't think they'll get a Rangers-type haul that some have speculated about. The Rangers are already deep at center (Zib, Strome, Chytil) and are closer to being a contender than their ownership thinks they are. The only way I see the Rangers giving up a lot is if ownership forces a deal.

Teams rarely get full value when a superstar demands a trade, which is effectively the situation we have here. The deep teams don't need or can't afford him and the shallower teams will be left with Eichel and not much else, which is what we already see in Buffalo. Eichel is damaged goods to the extent that at this point no one knows his prognosis. He's had a GM and at least one coach fired. And then there is the cap hit of $10 million in a flat cap environment.

Where ever he goes, it better be a place that can maximize his upside/potential. Got a lot of money invested into this player, so from a monetary perspective, I care where he lands.12890970_10156913497105354_104752379912651445_o.jpg12891509_10156913498025354_2624664732358145144_o.jpg

I want to sell my Jack Eichel game worn jersey and save up and get a Mario Lemieux. My grail. <3

I dont see Eichel in Boston even though in some ways it makes sense from a team need going forward. He just does not fit in the Bruins salary structure currently. I dont see the Bruins paying a player $10 mil while the core all make $6+. I see them signing Reinhart before Eichel. Regardless of possibly shedding some big cap in Rask/Krejci and in a year possibly Bergeron they are looking at big raises in 2 years for Pastrnak and McAvoy with Hall possibly signing a deal as well. Lot of balls in the air to take on that right now.

Something not mentioned is that I think the Bruins had plans for Coyle to move into Krejci's slot as C2. That is not looking too promising considering the season Coyle had but I do not think the Bruins want to continue paying Coyle 5.2 to play 3rd line. It's a tough situation because Coyle has a NMC/NTC the duration of his contract which is only 5 more years.

Sounds like Anaheim is coming into the talks. In reality EVERY NHL team should be touching base with Buffalo about Eichel though.

I suspect the return for Eichel is going to be very underwhelming. I see a 1st round pick and prospect as the main piece, but not even a prospect we'd consider "elite". Perhaps someone like Kaliyev in LA, maybe Turcotte or Vilardi. That's my best guess.

I heard Eichel to Anaheim, so the Ducks better cough up Zegras. I kind of have become a Sabres fan over the past 5 years. Kind of....

When was the last time a major player was dealt and people were legitimately be impressed at the time with the return? Kakko is probably the best young player that has any chance of being traded. And even then, it seems unlikely.

This. It can happen and should happen considering Jack Eichel is signed for years and IMO was looking like a decent contract in his 19/20 season. Guy was having a prorated 95 point season on a bad Sabres team. He finished 8th in Hart voting. He's also only 24. Last year doesn't count because he was playing in pain. It was an off year. Prior to that he was getting better with every season on a limited team.

Guy has 100 point upside and can reach that... the return should be good.

No offense meant to Pacioretty, Karlsson, or Duchene, but if Eichel is traded, he may be the best player traded in the NHL in the last 15 years. Karlsson at his prime would have been better, but Karlsson was traded well after his prime years. At 24 years old, Eichel hasn't even reached his prime yet. I fully expect him to explode on a new team, similar to the way Seguin did (but even moreso).
