Either way, the extra 2 guys didn't effect the play, but it was 100% a missed call and a pretty major miss. But at least it was just a miss and not dumb NHL playoff rulebook non-call.

I don't believe there is any way to challenge a goal for too many men. Trotz was incensed after the play so I'm guessing if he could have challenged he would have.

Didn't the NHL talk about a 'catch all' rule after the goal in the San Jose - St. Louis series where the puck hit the netting before a goal.

Maybe - don't think it's in place though. Otherwise Trotz would have used it.

Place should be rocking tonight. Trotz should send out 7 skaters to take the face off just to screw with the refs.

As a long time Isles fan...this is really difficult to watch. Game 2 was potentially lost on the missed call/free goal. OK, that happens and there's no replay rule for TMM so live with it. Game 3 sees us mostly getting outplayed but maintaining a close game. We get a garbage goal to tie it up (what was Cernak thinking??) and Kucherov is almost immediately gifted a call that was shockingly soft IMO...which of course leads to a TB PPG that wins the game. Sigh.

Tampa is giving the NYI a lesson on 5on5 play, which the NYI usually are the teachers of.

I've been such a huge fan of what Tampa Bay has been doing as a franchise for years now, and so I enjoy watching then have success.

Yep they truly are elite and can beat you so many different ways. Want to play run and gun? Sure they'll win 7-6. Want to suffocate defensively? No problem they'll do it better and strike when you make a mistake.

this iteration of TB is an example of learning what it takes to win with the right depth on the team. they will be very different next season with coleman and goodrow gone and like 1-2 more players lost to expansion.

nonetheless, i like TB's chances of repeating.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.

I would hope so considering they are 18m over the cap. That's two extra Kucherov's, comparably to NYI one extra Kucherov.
That's like giving a player an extra Knight in chess.
Pair that with competent team management and it was easy call to put them repeat winning the Cup.

    EDIT:
Sidenote - Seems cap friendly rolled over to 2021-22. Is there any way to see previous years?
