Spurgeon for now, but if Vince Dunn leaves by trade or expansion, then I'd be tempted to say Faulk as that would have cemented Faulk as the #2 scoring d-man in St. Louis.
In a points only keeper league who do you think will have the better season next year?

I dont see either guy being the for sure PP1 guy next season so theres an element of risk no matter who is recommended
That being said, given full health for both teams Spurgeon's path to PP1 is more clear. Minny's PP was pretty good in the second half so thats who id pick if i had to pick now
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
If I had to pick I’d go with Faulk. When Krug was injured he played the PP1 and didn’t look out of place. But it also depends on what happens with Dunn and Krugs health. So if both are #2’s then I’d go with Faulk.
Call me old one more time.

Jared Spurgeon. Safer player and came on towards the end. Had 17 points in his last 25 games. Guy is a 40+ point dman sans this past season, which saw him struggle out of the gate. Now with Kirill Kaprisov there I wouldn't be shocked if he hits 50 points.
Prior to this past season, Spurgeon's prorate over 82 games those 3 years were 50, 43, and 43. He also will have a very good Kevin Fiala and Kaprisov leading the offensive charge... he's also much more disciplined and consistent in his end, where as Justin Faulk can be a defensive liability which can hurt his mins.
Take the NHL's most underrated defenseman. FEEL THE URGE TO SPURGE!
I am a hockey obsessed fiend.
Faulk for me...

I like Spurgeon here. There are just too many things that need to fall into place for Faulk to be the better choice.

I like Faulk. STL has nice balance and Faulk should be PP2. They run two pretty solid units.
There's this pretty good feeling out there (I think) that Vince Dunn & STL are not meshing. I expect Dunn to get moved, cementing Faulk's offensive value.
While I like Spurgeon as an overall defenseman, I think Calen Addison is going to emerge as a better PP weapon than Spurgeon... maybe as the MIN future PP1 D-man.
[Addison had VERY impressive rookie numbers in the AHL this year among defensemen. Link.]
MIN is still holding Suter, Dumba... we'll see what happens through the expansion draft.
Let's not forget that Addison was one of the three pieces they received for Jason Zucker.
I think he has better value than the 2021 1st (which will be 26th overall). (The 3rd piece, Galchenyuk is a pure zero.)
So they have stock in him and they'll want him to have a chance to make that trade look good.
Spurgeon IS a very, very, very solid (& still underrated) defenseman.
He's a brilliant decision-maker. He simply isn't flashy.
When a team has dynamic PP forwards... Kaprizov, Fiala... Boldy coming... sometimes a steady D-man can run that PP and put up huge points.
So... Spurgeon's not a bad pick either. And he could be the better pick if Addison doesn't pan out at NHL-level.
I'm on the fence here... but I hedge to Faulk because I like Addison so much.
Toss up here. Leaning Faulk at the moment. Who knows with offseason moves though!
