    Default Jake DeBrusk healthy scratch

Maybe never has a player been given such a perfect “plum” assignment just as he comes into the league, as Jake DeBrusk. PP1 with the perfection line. And from there, to 3rd line and 5 goals (14 points total) in 41 games this year….. and in arguably the most important game of the year - - game 5 of a tied playoff series - - the coaching staff feels the team is better without him??

At least he gets $3.6 million for being mediocre.

Am I being too tough here, or too honest?

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

yes i agree, Debrusk been scratched many times and then put back in the lineup thinking the kid would be motivated to up his game only to be sat again. Kuhlman in for Debrusk which I dont think makes a difference but Cassidy trying to kick that bottom 6 into gear! I think they coulda kept Debrusk in the lineup and subbed out a 4th liner. Cassidy was not happy with Debrusk's defensive breakdown on the Barzal game winner so he's out. Im sure that is not the only reason he sits but one of them for sure. How many times you gotta be healthy scratched before you figure it out though?

Debrusk playing his off wing doesn't help either as he seems to struggle more there.

The thing is, ‘21-‘22 is a contract year for him. We’ll see if he’s motivated.

This has been the story of Debrusk for his whole career so far. Honestly I prefer the energy Kuhlman brings to the lineup anyway. He’s motivated and really puts the effort in even if he is less talented than Jake.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
