I love it. I would like to see how a female handles that load against teenage boys/men in that league and doesn't just get a sip of coffee like Manon Rheaume did. If this girl excels... who knows. The only thing holding her back is net coverage. But if she has tall parents and can get up to 5'10" she's not far off from a Juuse Saros because the weight isn't the important thing since the jersey/equipment will bulk her up. Could make her more agile, again like Saros. Where they lack in size to the larger more cumbersome NHL goaltender of today, they can make up for it in quickness.

At the very least it looks like Team Canada might just have a very nice option in net for the future. It will be interesting to follow this young ladies career. Good Stuff!

Was she not one of the last drafted? I don't think those picks typically see much ice.

i agree....i dont expect her to play but either way history was made...very little cool town as well...i go through Parkhill every year going up to cottage in August. I believe Sarnia is also either closest or second closest OHL team to where she is from. Other would be London.

Only fairly recent late (like 215th?) OHL pick I can think of who did something was Andrew Shaw.

So I think there's a few anyways. Yeah it's a long-shot that she gets much farther, but she was deserving of getting here, and that she got drafted is awesome proof of it.

It's a great story and nice to see. I'd be curious to see her play; she's listed at 5'7" which seems really small for a goalie!

If Allan Bester could do it why not her? Good for her and wish her the best.

This is true, 14th round picks usually go to the sons of people from the team's past, ala a Legacy move, like when New Jersey drafted one of Brodeur's sons with their last pick in that draft... a nice nod to the son of the greatest player to wear the jersey... GET IT?! AHAHAHAHA! I kill me...

Oh yeah, there's always a chance.

The reason why those guys (minus Formenton) went so late in the draft is because they had already commited to play College in the US and told the OHL they had no interest in coming North so a lot of teams wont waste their early picks on them. They'll gamble with the later picks on them, but not early ones.

It's a good story, and good on the Sting for drafting her, but I doubt she plays a game in the league.

Ah, fair enough. I hadn't considered that angle.

Well, we never do seem to know with goalies.

I remember when the Halifax Mooseheads drafted Jack Eichel something like 15th overall in the Q Draft many moons ago even though they knew it was a stretch to get him to come to the CHL. Those are few and far between.

Imagine if Eichel did come and play for the Mooseheads... might have learned how to win!!
