Toffoli for me. Despite Sam's late season "rebirth" in Florida there is huge risk here that he simply can't keep that up and translate those numbers into a full season next year. Even if he takes a significant step forward, which is possible, his numbers are very likely to be inferior to a typical year from Toffoli. The safe bet here by far is Toffoli. You could take a Hail Mary on Bennett, but I wouldn't be so inclined (:

Agree, Bennett is more of a "show me "player atm. Can he outperform TT? Sure, but I'm going with Toffoli until he does.

I take the other side, just because Bennett's payoff is larger.

Look, let's call a spade a spade -- Toffoli is never going to be a true difference maker on your fantasy team. IF Bennett can sustain what he's done in Florida thusfar, then he is a serious difference maker in this format. To me, the risk/reward balance says you take Bennett here.

Put another way, if Bennett goes back to being the Calgary version, you have downgraded Toffoli. If he maintains, you have a 65+ point hitting machine, and in this scoring setup that is valuable as hell.

My thoughts exactly. I feel like Bennetts upside is worth the risk of potentially downgrading Toffoli if he regresses.

i saw the title and im like, "no not really, this cant even be close.."

but i took to Frozen tools to compare and i agree with fantasyhockeygeek..Toff clearly has the "now" points edge, but Sammy has the "now" truculence edge. if Bennet can maintain his FLA play..thats huge.

Assuming you have enough scoring on your team, Id roll the dice with Sam Bennett. Its more difficult to get his combination of categories.

I mean, it's a small sample size and you'd expect it to come back down to earth... but in the 15 total games Bennett has played for FLA (reg + playoffs) his stat line is a jaw dropping:

    15 GP, 7 G, 13 A, 20 P, +12, 41 PIM, 57 SOG, 4 PPP, 3 GWG, 45 hits, 8 blocks, 75 FOW, 19:00 ATOI, 3:54 avg PP time.

    82-game pace: 38 G, 71 A, 109 P, +66, 224 PIM, 312 SOG, 21 PPP, 16 GWG, 246 hits, 44 blocks.

Yes, it's a hot streak and totally not sustainable. But those are serious numbers that shouldn't be disregarded... and show how potent he could be during a hot streak. Say those level off, it doesn't feel crazy to say that Bennett could do 25-30G, 65-70P, +15, 100 PIM, 250+ SOG, 20 PPP, 5 GWG, 200 hits, 40 blocks.

I certainly don't disagree with this approach whatsoever. I've found that sometimes you have to take some chances and if you get lucky your in business. That said, there is absolutely some risk here, so depending on your level of risk acceptance this is a decision that you may or may not be comfortable with. As Kovalchuk says, if you have a team that allows you to take a chance and if it goes bad and the impact is still acceptable, then by all means, roll the dice. I get it (:

I actually scooped Sam up right after the trade and couldn't believe what he did. I'll be protecting him but I'm not having to drop anyone to do so that will be painful, he's a fairly easy keep over the others.

    Good Luck!!!
