Who to keep?

We played roto with the same cats this past year (team in sig), and I squeaked out the W. Traded a few mid-round picks for depth, and now I've got some tough keeper decisions.

FWIW, the following players count as prospects on my roster: Tkachuck, Fox, Shesterkin, Nedeljkovic, Rossi, Merzlikins, other goalies who won't factor in.

I have to keep at least 3 prospects, though I can keep more.

Who are your 10 keepers?

Well, the easy part with those prospects being if you can keep more than 3, you keep all of them.

So for your 7, I would take Zibanejad, Larkin, Svechnikov, Rantanen, Wilson, Schenn and Theodore. I'd debate on Markstrom over Schenn, or potentially even Barrie, but that depends on who he signs with.

Tough choices for sure.

i like this but im keeping Chychrun over Theodore in your set up....im part of similar league and this past year Chychrun finished 6th and Thodore 10th...

i also think that we already seen best version of Theodore and we will see this version for next few years....i think Chychrun still has an upside.

So it's 10 keepers including "as many as 3" prospects? Do goalie prospects count against your "prospect cap"? Do they count against the goalie cap?

Or is it really just "Keep 7 main roster, 3 prospects, and no more than 2 goalies"?

I'm going to assume it's keep 7 main roster, 3 prospects, and no more than 2 goalies for now.

A couple notes on this scoring setup:

• Goalies a super critical.
• With a max of 120 players kept, any "prospect" who is not meaningfully contributing to their NHL team should not be kept by you. Ever. Let others make that mistake.
• With so many scoring categories, "all around players" are your key to the win. Any D that don't hit and block meaningfully aren't keepers.
• Likewise, you want wingers who get FOW.

The best 10 players in that list for this scoring setup are Ziba, Tkachuk, Svech, Rantanen, Wilson, Schenn, Fox, Chychrun, Shesty, Ned. Schenn isn't sexy, but FOW from the wing are incredibly valuable. Four of those players are "prospects" so I wonder if you can shop around and improve your team via trade? You've got some very good pieces that should net a nice return, that hopefully you can use to upgrade the 7+3.

That's correct.

10 keepers max, at least three of which must be prospects. Max 2 goalies within those 10 keepers.

Ok, so it's 7+3, no more than 2 goalies... but if you wanted to keep more prospects then the number of vets goes down? That just opens the door for loads of mistakes! I think my edited post above stands.

I was intending to keep:

Tkachuck, Svech, Rantanen, Zibs, Chychrun, Schenn (for the FOW from the wing and all around contributions), Fox, Shesty, Ned.

I'm having trouble deciding between Pavs (again, FOW from the wing but which version do we get??), Theodore (elite sog and points), and Wilson.

I'm hoping to upgrade as well via trades. There's a team with weak goaltending, and I'm exploring Theodore and Markstrom for Hamilton, or Svech and Markstrom for Kucherov.

Also: I like Larkin, and he has high-end potential in this set-up. However, I think given the year he had he's pretty redraftable in this league and I can probably get him in the 4th round.

This is also my list. Keeping Schenn just feels wrong when you have Theodore as an option.
