Default New Dynasty Startup needs 29 more teams

Dynasty Startup getting ready for next season. 30 teams. 85 dollar salary cap. Full Rosters.
Pick your favourite team for your base (if available). You'll get 3 forwards, 2 dmen, 1 goalie and 10 prospects at their rounded real cap hits from last season (expiring ELCs will be their next contract cap hit). Contract durations will match real life counter parts. More explained in league settings.

    General Rules

Rule 1: This is a fun league, and the plan is not to charge money for it outside of the Fantrax Fee. This is an opportunity for players to experience a dynasty league without the pressure of spending money.

Rule 2: All are welcome, chirping is encouraged, but do not cross any lines. If at any point you are deemed to have crossed a line you will get one warning and then you will be expelled from the league. If the first offense is egregious enough you will be removed immediately.

Rule 3: Collusion is prohibited. Any players found to be colluding with another player will be required to forfeit their team's 1st round pick for the following two seasons.

Rule 4: Players may only own 1 team. Anyone found to own multiple teams will be expelled from the league.

Rule 5: Any player who believes another player is cheating in any way is to bring their complaint to the commissioner. It will then be investigated, and the results of that investigation will be made public to everyone in the league if cheating has occurred.

Rule 6: All trades will be reviewed by the league for fairness. Remember that this is a fun league and tanking is not a guarantee for a high pick due to the lottery.

    Player Retention/Contract Management
The initial draft will be an auction draft. Each team will have an 85-point budget less the amount spent on their initial rostered players. This is also your "salary cap". The price at which you "buy" a player at the draft is their contract. Minimum contract is 1 point. Player contracts will expire when their NHL contracts expire. At the time of a contract’s expiration, players will either be a UFA or an RFA. Real life in season extensions will not negate the contract’s end in our league. To be eligible for RFA status, a player must be less than 27 years old and have played less than 7 seasons of at least 10 games/season. Teams have two options to keep their players upon contract expiration, they may either place a FRANCHISE TAG (FT) on the player, or a QUALIFYING OFFER (QO). Franchise tags are the same for both UFAs and RFAs and are calculated as the average "salary" of the top 10 "highest paid" players at a position. Positions will be C, W, D, and G. Each team will be able to FT as many players as they can each year. No player can receive a "pay-cut" via FT. For example, if you have the highest paid player at a position their salary must be matched in the FT. The other option is to use a QO. QOs will work similarly to the NHL. If a player is a UFA, they will go directly to Free Agency if a FT is not placed on them. A QO will be anything that is at least 1 point greater than the player’s previous salary. A QO can be as large as a team wants it to be. A QO can be beaten by another team. This list of Qualified RFAs will come out each off season and there will be a 1-week period during which players can be "offer sheeted" by other teams. Offer sheets can not exceed 15 points. When a QO is beaten, the team will have a chance to match the highest offer sheet before the player is lost. If any RFA is lost to an offer sheet, there will be compensatory draft pick(s) paid to the other team. This will follow the Draft Pick Compensation table below:

    Draft Pick Compensation

    Free Agency
Free Agency will run as an auction will take place in the forum posts for the month of September. This will be in the form of a running list of bids on the forum post board. When making a bid, copy and paste all of the bids from the previous post while updating the bid for the one you are changing or adding. Over the month, if any player receives a bid and in 7 days that bid does not change, the player will be awarded to that team or a lottery will take place. All bids will be public knowledge this way and there is a fair purchasing of the player's services. A team may only exceed the Cap by a rounded 10% in the offseason (85 Cap = 94 Offseason Cap). If there are multiple teams bidding the same value for a player then the player will be awarded via lottery. Teams that finished(previous season) between 1st and 10th will receive 3 ballots, 11th and 20th 2 ballots, and 21st and 30th 1 ballot. This is since teams at the bottom would have to/can “overpay” a player.

    Entry Draft
Each year a 7 round entry draft will be held after the NHL draft for that year's class of rookies. The 14 teams that miss the playoffs the previous year will enter a lottery for the top spots. The bottom 5 having a 13.3%(4/30) chance at first or 2nd overall, 25th will have a 6.7%(2/30) chance and 17th-24th will have a 3.3%(1/30) chance. The playoff teams will be ordered via their playoff results and their season standings relative to the round in which they are eliminated. If a team is ever unable to attend a rookie entry draft, they may submit a list of players to the Commissioner in the order that they wish to be drafted. They will otherwise receive the next available drafted player like an auto-draft. Initial 2021 entry draft will follow NHL order.

    Minors
Minor leaguers do not count towards your cap and can remain there until they are 27 years old or play 100 games as a skater or 50 games as a goalie. Once a player loses their minors eligibility they will have to pass through waivers to get there.

    Salary Cap
The salary cap of 85 points may never be exceeded by any team at any time during the season or playoffs.

    Waiver Wire
There will be no claims/drops in season for this league. If a player is left on free agency and blows up, they will remain there until the next offseason, at which time they will be available for auction. Any player on your roster at the beginning of the season will remain there for the duration of the year. The buyout penalty for buying out a player during the offseason buyout period will follow the table below:

    Contract Value
    Draft Pick Forfeited
    1-2
    none
    3-6
    3rd
    7-10
    2nd
    10+
    1st
Any player who announces their retirement from the NHL or leaves to go overseas can be dropped at no cost.

    Playoffs
Division leaders get 1-2, second in division gets 3-4, 5-8 are decided as conference wildcards.

    Schedule
Each year teams will have 44 regular season games spread across 22 scoring periods (2 each week). The schedule will be randomly generated each year.

    Rosters
Teams have 23 spots on their active roster. This includes 19 starters and 4 bench. Injured reserve and Minors are active and unlimited. They don’t count towards the cap. The starting lineup will consist of 3C, 6W, 3F, 6D, 1G. To be eligible for injured reserve, a player must either be on the league IR list. Teams must always have 23 players on their active roster meaning they must have cap space for minor leaguers to fill the roster. In season if someone goes to IR they must be replaced via the minors.
