Kind of irrelevant. The objective is for the net gain of your team as a whole to get better. If you're greatly overpaying, there's a good chance you are making your team worst. This is a generalization, yes there are other factors to look at too.
I'm not about to project McDavid to maintain the same point pace he had this year.
