No one knows yet. Whispers that some divisions who have completed the regular season may start on the 13th or so, but nothing official yet.

With 7 teams completing their 56-game schedule today, #NHL still sorting out playoff start date.

American GMs were recently told to expect either May 15 or 16.


North Division speculation has been centered on May 18 or 19, but there’s recent talk about as early as May 17 as well.

well they need to have all the teams first imo....

but i think its possible that we will have regular season and playoffs at same time.

As soon as MTL clinches i think CGY vs VAN games either get cancelled or they will be played together with playoffs games...i dont think they waiting till 20th to start

I am with you, I don't like how uncertain the start time is. But I guess it's just that kind of year.

Billy Daly did an interview today. It sure sounds like the 15th and 16th for the American teams and the 19th for the Canadian teams.

Its funny how this is the first announced series.

Both Washington and Boston have 1 more regular season game.

The Central Division is all set with all teams in playoffs finishing the regular season last night.

And Pitts and NYI are both at the full 56 games as well.

So I am curious why they didn't decide to start one of the Central series or Pitts and NYI first.

And wow... there is going to be some awesome first round tilts.

TB-FLA - we could be talking about the Battle of Florida State like the Battle of Penn State after this series!

Oh yea, that FLA vs TB will be one to watch, don't count out Nashville (beat CAR twice by 8-1 score) but I'm sure CAR will step it up come playoffs, can't wait.

I thought I saw there is a strong chance the Leafs first game is May 19th when Vancouver vs Calgary regular season game is still happening.

Wouldn't surprise me the Leafs play on either May 18th or 20th to schedule the Leafs on May 22nd with a day in between games. But NHL on a Wednesday night seems to be what happens. So Leafs Games 1 and 2 could be May 19th, May 22nd.

im 90% sure theyll cancel the last 3 CGY/VAN games from may 16-19 as it is insulting to the playoff teams and the non-playoff teams to have a regular season game air at the same time as a playoff game. keep in mind the winner of the north needs to travel and quaratine to the states as well. starting several days behind is already a disadvantage.

i can see them cutting the may 15th van/edm game as well as it is the only game that day. honestly why risk the integrity of the playoffs by risking a chance of a playoff team getting covid by playing a meaningless game?
