    Default Rasmus Dahlin

Before this season, I had him pegged as a future 60 point guy. After this season, I’m not sure. I know it’s mostly just a matter of his team being horrendous, but still a concern. What are your thoughts on when/if he’ll get back to being a future 60 point guy.
12 teams. Keep 9 any position.
7 prospects. D scoring 3.75 for goal, 2.75 for assist. Forwards 3.5 for goal, 2.5 for assist. 0.5 for hits and blocks. Goalie scoring -1.5 GA, 0.3 for save, 2 points for win and extra 2 for shutout.

    Pre Draft

F: Keller, Zegras, Suzuki, Caufield, Cozens

    D: Drysdale, Guhle, Perunovich

    G:

Heck, I had him pegged as a PRESENT 60 point guy! I traded away more than I should have to get him in the off-season, but luckily after the Kucherov injury announcement I traded him and a couple pick upgrades to get Kuch.

I think I'd still take a stab at him, but I'd pay WAY less than I would have before. Maybe he keeps improving under the new coach, or maybe Eichel gets traded and Dahlin has no one to play with for 5 years. Still worth a shot, but no longer worth an expensive shot.

    Comparing similar d-men

Dahlin's NHL points by age season
    18: 44 pts
    19: 40 in 59 games
    20: 23 in 56 games

    Cale Makar
    18: zero
    19: zero
    20: zero

    Adam Fox
    18: zero
    19: zero
    20: zero

    Quinn Hughes
    18: zero
    19: 3 in 5 games
    20: 53 in 68 games

    Erik Karlsson
    18: zero
    19: 26 in 60 games
    20: 45 in 75 games

It is way too early to judge that Dahlin lacks the ability to hit 60 points. He may or may not be a generational fantasy scorer, although a lot of that will have to do with teammate quality and power play efficiency. Dahlin is an RFA after this year. If he signs a Chabot-like long term deal, then I might be tempted to knock his long-term prognosis down a little because of Buffalo's general malaise. But otherwise, you need to rest on the fact that Dahlin reached 100 NHL points faster than almost any other defenseman in league history.

I like ^^^. Defenders take longer and add the right pieces he will be fine. 50-60 points will be regular for him soon.

Personally not concerned at all... he's special, even if (understandably) inconsistent to start his career. Truth is - so was MacKinnon... and I know there's a bunch of poolies cursing themselves for bailing on him a bit too early.

100% this is the time to see if you can swoop in to snag him at a discount. I've tried in every (keeper) league I'm in since mid-season (and haven't gotten him once lol).

Good luck and bravo to any of you who can!

I was lucky enough to scoop him up mid season in my one league along with Eichel. Both were dropped by the same guy lol. Points and +/- salary cap league so I am assuming he was pushing for this year and not looking too far down the road.

He will get there. Buffalo will get things together some year. And maybe not as a team and the standings, but at a rate where there top PP unit scores and Dahlin gets the points.

Dahlin will be a regular 50-60+ pointer and future Norris winner. Snatch him up if anyone is foolish enough to sell low.

I've got a lot of high picks this coming draft, so I'll snag him with an early one probably. The guy who has him now has SO many good D that it doesn't even make sense to keep Dahlin this go around. Maybe this is the year he explodes! Though it depends a bit on what Buffalo gets for Eichel...

Took a big step with the coaching change last year mid way through the season. He looked much better offensively and defensively. I really think Krueger hampered his development, tried to control him to limit mistakes. I personally traded him last season in my league out of frustration and being a Sabres fan I hate having players from my team on my fantasy team. It may be weird but unless you are a Sabres fan you wouldn't understand. He will easily be a regular 60+ point defenseman, especially with their new coach who excels coaching young guys. He lets them play to their strengths and learn from their mistakes. Local article with some good quotes from Dahlin https://buffalonews.com/sports/sabre...4cfbaabc1.html

Corey Pronman of the Athletic (I love his analysis and opinion) has Dahlin ranked as the single most talented player in the NHL under the age of 23. Be patient. I'm not sure he can quite reach makar/fox levels because of how loaded those teams are but individually he is a special player and his numbers will come.

I do the same weird thing with my Flyers. That's the result of trying to carry at least one in my early fantasy career, lol. Also, I agree 100% on Dahlin needing Krueger gone.

Makar is on a different planet, due to his speed, long leash, situation and toys to play with. Dahlin is way more dynamic than Fox (who I've loved for years).
Once Rasmus has his Hedman-like, offensive breakout there's no turning back.
    Get him.

As for Dahlin's talent, the kid still has zits and is by far one of the most talented players on the planet... as a defenseman.
