    Default Matvei Michkov - 2023 NHL Draft

    Thought this phenom deserved his own thread.

    Top forward of the U18 tournament at 16. The next big Russian star by many accounts. The last 3 Russians to win that award - Kucherov, Malkin, Ovechkin. I hope we see him at the WJC - the Russians seem to be less afraid of putting younger players on their roster lately so who knows.

    But yes... this kid looked great from the short amount of time I was able to watch this tourney.

    The goal he scored against Finland looked like a nice shot!

    It should probably be noted early in this thread. Matvei signed a 5 year contract with SKA St. Petersburg this year and is locked into the KHL until their 2025–26 season is complete.
