    Default Aho/Kaprizov vs Makar/Guentzel

    Hi guys,

I would like your opinion on this trade offer that I have just received.

My Aho (on contract for 2 mores year) + Kaprizov (4y) + Chabot (1y) + 4th round pick
    vs
    Makar (3y) + Forsberg (1y) + 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick.

Points only (g/a = 1pts) and will compete next year.

During off-season, I can move the 2nd round pick to a stacked team for player like Guentzel (3y) or Zibanejad (3y). At worst I should be able to get Tavares (2y) for the 3rd round pick.

So the return will be Makar + Guentzel + Forsberg + 3rd

All players include in this deal are keepers and getting Makar is very tempting.

    Should I do it?

    Thanks!
Points Only Keep 8 league with 8 teams.

i think your total return is fine, but trade value is not...your trade partner is gaining way more than you in this trade...i would pass unless he sweetens the pot a lot...

No I would not do it. I agree with Belexus and think you should focus on the return of this specific deal and not what you can do after.

Makar (3y) + Forsberg (1y) + 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick to me is not enough for Aho Kaprizov and Chabot. Why does this guy benefit so heavily in the trade and you're left making additional moves to balance out the value?

Thank you guys. I'm really torn, I know I give a lot, but at the end... I want the best team, no matter how I do it.

In other hand, there is still a risk factor to consider if my other transactions don't work out. The gains versus the risks may not be worth it

I would also keep what you have. Gives you the best chance to win next season and beyond.

The way you have written this makes it pretty clear that ziba and guentzel aren't a sure thing and you could likely end up with Tavares...and that's not a sure thing. Too much to give up in the first trade, your current trade partner shouldn't get a deal based on your prospective future trades. Wouldn't do this

well i really doubt this gives you best team...its quite possible that Kaprizov flirts with 100 points in year or 2...you just need to get more in return if you do this

Thank you all, rep given when I can.

I will try to postpone the discussion with my trade partner to offseason. Then, the other transactions will be more concrete. For now, there is too much risk.

I think this is smart for now. Aho Kaprizov and Chabot are solid buy low candidates. Aho appears to be struggling a bit wthout Teravainen as his wingman. Kaprizov could be a future Panarin (but this is speculative). Chabot has shown promise when more proven talent was around him, and the current talent is growing - he'll be fine in a few years. Makar is definitely the anchor piece but Guentzel will be surpassed by Kaprizov shortly. Like many others said, you're not getting enough in return.

Yes, like others have said, this is not the time to do this. You need to firm up what's possible in the offseason, to make sure the sum total of what you get isn't just a downgrade in the first deal, and not enough back later on.

The Aho side wins, but it's oh so close, because I like the players on the other side, and well it's two forwards for a dman and forward. It is close.

Makar is big the factor here, he is very likely, especially with the team he's on, going to be flirting with ppg numbers over the next 3 years and barring injury or huge regression, should be in the top 3 D for points every year. I like KK, I think he's going to be great, but at best I see him as a 30-40 goal, 70-80 point fwd, which is great don't get me wrong, but Makar could be flirting with Karlsson numbers, you are almost certainly getting the BAP in the deal.

Do what you feel is best honestly, this trade could go either way in the next couple of years.
