I agree and Hall has proven that he can’t be that guy to drive a teams success (other than the single Hart season which seems to be an outlier). He can however be a very good complimentary piece. He landed in one of the best possible destinations for that.

Buffalo got a player under contract for 3yrs. They have no one under contract really. This could be their motive on this deal specifically.

They won't get UFAs to join, like seriously who would go there. So maybe this was the motivation on this deal? Bad teams stay bad because they prioritize getting players that are under contract and not worried about talent or return. But at least there seems to be a reason onto why they made this deal so far in advanced of the deadline.

Would no team come in and take 25% of that deal tho to raise the pick involved? Like I would rather Buffalo spend a late pick they received in the Staal deal to get another team involved for Boston to send a 1st. I would have thought Hall at $2mill would be worth that 31 pick upgrade?

    Well I like this note...

The draft pick the Red Wings got for taking on Marc Staal's contract is going to be higher than the pick the Sabres got for Taylor Hall.

Best possible landing spot for Hall in my opinion, I figured he’d end up in Boston.

Anders Bjork is 24. He doesn’t have upside. What he already is is what he is.

Great trade her for the Flyers and Rangers - one of these two teams will now make the playoffs.

Bruins will start losing, finish outside the playoffs... then win the draft lottery.

It's almost like it's 2021 and some people still don't understand small sample sizes.

Anders Bjork is only 24. He has only played 138 NHL games. A career 11.8 shooting percentage puts him as a second-line upside on a weak team like Buffalo. Nobody is saying he's going to be a superstar.

Bjork is the new Hienen & Donato. If Boston doesn't see that extra something then off you go.

That said, I'm not a fan of Hall - for multiple reasons. He seems to be severely deficient in character.
Good, locker-room team building character. He now goes to one of the most entrenched character dressing rooms in hockey.

Moving to a legit team, could breath fresh air into Hall.

He's been on Edmonton, NJD, Coyotes and Sabres. Not one is/was considered a top franchise. Boston is. Could very well change his output on life. Could change for like 5 games and Bostons terribly hurt D-core could crumble and crumble Hall.

Hall - "The no-move definitely helped make me a Bruin. This was a team I really wanted to be part of and really wanted to join"

Sounds like he nixed a deal to somewhere else.

    HOWEVER.

It’s important to add the context that were roughly 15 hours out from the trade deadline, which makes this trade so much worse. How do you accept THAT deal now. That’s a “there’s only 2 minutes left to the deadline and I overplayed my hand and this is the only deal left on the table” type offer. Just disgustingly bad asset management by Buffalo.
It's really easy to criticize a lot of what Buffalo has done over the last few years; I'm the first on that train. But poor asset management with Taylor Hall. They signed him to a 1 year deal as a UFA. And traded him for a 2nd round pick. One can debate the Lazar/Bjork side. They turned nothing into a 2nd round pick. And TSN is reporting (via McKenzie) that NOBODY was willing to pay a 2nd for Hall. There are much, much, much better examples if you want to highlight Buffalo's poor asset management.
