I read earlier that they were the favorite to land him. Now to see if NJ made a smart move or not.

Funny how the NHL works. Nobody wants to take a chance on Evgeny Svechnikov for free. Younger, same amount of pts as Gusev this year. But multiple teams were trying to land Gusev.

    Good move by FLA though.

If Gusev can't make the line-up under Lindy Ruff, I wonder how he's going to fare under Joel Quenneville...
But it's a very low risk move and if he finds a bit of motivation, he has the skills to do well with players like Hornqvist and Tippett.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.

I really hope he finds his groove here. He certainly has an opportunity as hes bound to get a shot on L1 at least for a little bit with barkov/Verhagge. Worked wonders for the last KHl wunderkind that went through Florida (cough, cough... Dadanov...)

Evgeny Svechnikov wasn't free. His price was becoming that GM who was willing to claim your young players you didn't want to lose, and then becoming a pariah amongst NHL GM's. Of course, that's only a cost in the mind of GM's, which is unfortunately what matters.
