Re: Svechnikov, Kaprizov pts only
Points only makes this close to a wash.
Kaprisov is WAY better than his stats indicate. I watch him regularly and he is a special talent. Unfortunately he is a man among boys on the Wild. if they get a #1 center instead of rotating out Eriksson Ek, Victor Rask, and Hartman, it would make a difference. Zuccarello is a competent wingman for him and better than his other options, but has never been a game breaker and Fiala aside, its pretty bare down there. Their powerplay also works best when Spurgeon is playing PP1. Let that sink in for a minute. Eriksson Ek is good, but trending more in the Koivu two way center mold, not scoring center.
Svech on the other hand is in an ideal situation and will get better as he gets older. Necas is also coming into his own and Teravainen will be back eventually.
When they players are close to even in my eyes, their situation and deployment will be the deciding factor. Carolina has a stud superstar Center in Aho who is young. Their 2nd line C is Trocheck who is 27, very good in all areas. Their 3rd line C is Staal who is still producing well.
If Svech ever got demoted to 2nd line for coaching flavor of the week line juggles, he still has great linemates.
At worst Hamilton doesn't resign and they need an offensive D. Minny's more offensive minded D are currently being outscored by Jonas Brodin. Their PP sucks balls.
