Hey folks,
So we are expanding next year and I am going to protect 2 goalies on lieu of an extra forward...
Who do you guys protect of these 4? There's no guarantee I lose anyone, but obviously a chance unprotected

To me, Shesterkin is at the top of the list to protect. No brainer.
And Demko is the likely number 2, with Mrazek a UFA at year end (I think his value takes a hit on another team). However, if Mrazek resigns in Carolina, I'd be tempted to protect him instead. I like Carolina over the next couple of years much more than I like Vancouver.
Nedeljovic is likely at the bottom of my list right now. But that could change if Carolina and/or Mrazek decide to go in another direction after this year.
When is your expansion draft, and when is your deadline for identifying your protected players? In general, after Shesterkin, I would wait on the other three until you see what happens in the offseason, if timelines allow.

Piling on with Shesterkin & Demko.
Carolina could make their goalie plans clear before you have to make that choice, and that might sway me to Mrazek, but I think I'd leave them both out there unprotected. You'd likely lose one if they both end up in Carolina.

Wanted to resurface this, in case some opinions have changed.
Given Neds start with Carolina, does he have a chance to become the starter?

100% he does.
both Reimer & Mrazek are UFA's. Only one has a chance of coming back to platoon with Ned.
should be noted Francis traded for Mrazek & is now GM of Seattle.
I would protect Shest & Ned myself.
I see the argument for Demko, but Carolina is just becoming a top team - Van will continue treading water as a bubble team. Even 15% less GP - Ned will give you comp. Win totals.
If you can trade, I would try to move Demko for futures.
I feel like demko is easier to slip through an expansion draft for you. Van was 1-3 in last 4 vs. Cgy. Ned just shut out Nsh in the playoffs last night.
Optics often lead decisions.
That said, I traded Samsonov for Ned this past season. So I'count me as a Ned believer.

While i am also with Shesty and Ned, the expansion GM may take the name value of Demko more than the opportunity of Ned...
you might get lucky here and be able to sneak away with not protecting Ned..
