I expected Colorado to deal for a goalie. They can't go into the playoffs with Miska as their backup option. It's not that Johansson is much more experienced than Miska though so this one's a bit of a head scratcher.

Thought they'd take a stab at Bernier, but Detroit probably wants a bit more then Colorado is willing to pay.

JJ will be free to sign with whomever he likes in the offseason since he hasn't played enough games for the Sabres to retain his rights so I can't imagine Sakic forking over much of anything.

Generally I agree, but if he was going to be out for the whole season, I think they would have gone for someone better.

In all likelihood this is just a depth upgrade. Backup for now, and useful depth later. I doubt the Avs pay a lot for him.

I can say without hesitation that the Avs are getting the worst goalie I've seen during my 19 seasons covering the Sabres.

He doesn't stop pucks in practice or games.
