    Default Malkin - LBI

    TUE, MAR 16, 6:19 PM
    ROTOWIRE.COM
Malkin (undisclosed) did not return to the Penguins' bench at the start of the second period of Tuesday's game versus the Bruins, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Spin: Malkin took a hit in the corner during the first period that sent him to the locker room. He was able to briefly return for one shift, but didn't join the team to start the second period, which isn't a good sign for his availability in the rest of Tuesday's contest. More information regarding Malkin's injury could surface in head coach Mike Sullivan's postgame comments.

Malkin (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, retroactive to Tuesday.
Spin: Now that he's been placed on IR, Malkin will miss Pittsburgh's next three games at a minimum. The Penguins and fantasy managers will both hope to have the 34-year-old pivot back in their lineups sooner rather than later, as he's been on fire recently, having racked up four goals and 12 points in his last nine games.

Malkin (lower body) is considered week-to-week but should be available before the end of the season.
Spin: Malkin's absence will stretch the Penguins' forward depth as Teddy Blueger (upper body) is also facing an extended absence. Fortunately for the club, it appears Jared McCann (upper body) is nearing a return and should step into the second-line center role if cleared to play against New Jersey on Saturday.

It has been frustrating owning this player. Have had Malkin since he was a rookie. So pretty much his entire NHL career. The struggle is real.

Perhaps it would have been a good idea at some point, with his established track record of missing large chunks of time to injury, to stop owning him.

This is huge in fantasy. I've had some luck, I dealt Malkin a while back even tho he can still play, I dealt Simmonds when his Flyer days were done. Of course there is the other side of the coin, keeping a player too long. Been there too....
