Default Leafs willing to trade TOP prospect?!

    Lets speculate!!>>

    Who is it?

What they want back (apparently its a forward with size sy talking heads)

    Where they go?

MY take? For selfish reasons I want Nick Robertson and Ill say... herm... maybe anaheim?? Theyve got room for forwards now. He could establish chemistery with a world class playmaker in Zegras!! Racell and Silvferberg are forwards who could help now.

Rakell for Robertson in some kind of package could make some sense.

I think they are ready to part with Liljegren, although not sure what that gets you these days. Topi Niemela would probably be high on teams wishlists too I think.

I think Robertson/Rodion are on the list of players they'd be willing to part with, but at what cost.

I think the Leafs go out of the box with a trade.

I'm not saying Hall, but his deal is easy to show what I'm thinking:

Hall to "Team X", Buffalo retains 50%. Buffalo receives prospect or Kerfoot or whatever
"Team X" trades Hall to Toronto, retains 50%, "Team X" receives late pick

    Toronto Receives Hall at $2mill/yr.

I really rather the Leafs hold onto Robertson, I think he can do just the same overall game value as Hall if given the chance, but that's a gamble and you wouldn't find that out till after the Leafs would need to deal for a Hall. I would like to say, I think Robertson's contract control is heavily influencing my "Robertson can do what Hall can". It's a "I don't want Hall, especially when you have a possible offensive shooter on the team for next yr". But if we bring in a guy that isn't on the roster somewhere already then whatever.

I think Leafs get a forward LW. I dunno who because I don't know who would jive with JT/Nylander while keeping Hyman on the 3rd line with Kerfoot on the team. I really don't know how the Leafs do it without moving too much out.

Robertson may be the only Leaf prospect that can actually be labeled a "top" prospect.. Sandin is good, but "top", nah.. Liljegren, definitely not a top prospect..

So who is everyone thinking the Leafs are trading for Ekholm, Savard, Hall, Rakell, Quick, etc......?

I feel like Rackell or maybe |Palmieri. The article said it was likely a forward with size so those are my two best guesses...

Another thing is Dubas usually ends up trading the guy we think he will (Kadri, Kapanen, Johnsson, Zaitsev, Brown), but usually isn't getting the player we think he's getting. He gets the type of player we think he'll get (backup goalie, toughness, depth center) but usually we never guess the actual player (Campbell, Kerfoot, Barrie, Ceci, 1st round pick).

Yea- thats true actually. Also sounds like it might end up being a rental due to the expansion situation..

I think if the Leafs acquire Ekholm, then Brodie might be the one exposed in the expansion draft!!

I don't see the Leafs bringing in Hall. He's too big of a gamble and they don't need another forward. I agree with Zorro. Ekholm is the guy they should go after since defence is their biggest concern.

I think bringing in a forward is all hockey writers have been saying the Leafs are looking to do. Odd that you don't think they need a forward but everyone else seems to think they do...

Depth on defence is very important come the playoffs. They have plenty of it up front. I honestly think that if they bring in a guy like Ekholm, they improve their chances of going deep way more than bringing in another forward. THat would just be redundant.
