Hypothetical - Selling Cold Youth for Performing Vets

Hey All,

Hypothetical Offer I'm dealing with here;

The owner currently in last in my league (very rarely sets his lineup, etc.) [makes me also think I could take advantage] has very old players, and very little prospect with regards to keepers.

I'm thinking of offering him:
Dahlin, Hall, Zibanejad for Kopitar and Wheeler

Kopitar and Wheeler likely wouldn't be keepers going forward for me, being 33 & 34 respectively; where Dahlin COULD be a keeper (though I am losing patience).

I know the value on Dahlin, Hall and Zibanejad are super low... but considering this trade is strictly for rebuild/keeper purposes for him (who outside of Kopitar & Wheeler... his only players I would consider keepers are Mark Stone, RNH, Monahan, Samsonov, Jarry, Schenn)...

I guess seeing what he has on his team, does this trade make sense or am I out to lunch thinking I can buy Kopitar and Wheeler on the cheap with super cold players?

Thats an overpay for me. If I was sitting in last place of a Keep 5 and someone offered me that for two older guys I would jump all over it. Typically you have to pay a premium to get someone to take anyone over 30 (in my leagues anyways).

I'd also jump on that offer if I was him.

Unless your categories include Face off Wins or Old vets, keep what you have. Moving Hall isn’t a bad idea but Zib and Dahlin have no where to go but up.

Are you a major contender? If so, it seems possibly okay. If not, it's bad.

I've got Kopitar in a multi-cat where I inherited him on a team I took over a couple years ago. He's very solid, and there aren't FOW in that one. However, it's just not worth it with what you're giving. He's solid piece, but you aren't in a dynasty, and don't have FOW.

Dahlin is the keeper guy there. If you want to sell him, you need to get a keeper quality guy back.

For me, I would rather not try to take advantage of a (mostly) inactive manager. I would find another trading partner instead.
