I woke up to hearing this news. I was certainly saddened by it. I remember my dad telling me about meeting him at a celebrity sports dinner back home one year and how meeting Walter was such a thrill for him, and my Dad was a staunch Leafs fan (poor feller LOL!). He was just so impressed with Walter and the stories he would tell.

    RIP Walter.

I was fortunate enough to sit next to Walter at an OHL game. He told us stories all thru the game and shared his insights to the game. A true gem gifted to the world. RIP Walter - you will be missed.

All losses of fathers are tragic and no escapes that pain, not even the Great One and his family, siblings. So sad.

My wife is from Brantford and part of the Polish community, so I'd run into him time to time at events they'd hold at their Polish hall there. Great guy, so outgoing, always a smile on his face and willing to take time for anyone. He gave us a signed photo of Wayne one time, but it's the message on the back of that photo from him that means more to us. In Brantford he's beloved as he stuck around and did a lot for that community, much more so than Wayne. He's someone that will be missed.
