Bought Low - Waiting for Payoff... Will it Happen?

Hey All,

So I went out and bought low on Malkin, Hall, Zibanejad, and have a low / coming off IR in Konency...

What are the odds that all 4 (at least 3 of 4) are able to turn it around in the second half of the season?

There is no point in me trying to turn around and re-sell while they are low, but curious to know if anyone has any foresight knowledge to help me see the upside on buying them low.

I think Malkin and Konecny should be fine. The other two I'm less sure of.

Before I give my best guess, who did you trade for each of these players?

Hall isn't improving unless he's traded.

Konecney will improve but its looking too crowded to regain his PPG form from last year

Malkin is starting to heat up

Zib I don't trust with their current HC

I think all will improve, but how much is unknown.

I assume they'll all have a better second half. Good on you for going all in on the buy low. Normally I only have the nerve to try for one or two guys haha.

Before I give my best guess, who did you trade for each of these players?

I had drafted Konency, so no loss there;
I got Hall & Malkin in a trade for Hischier & Roslovic (both of which I got off waivers)
I got Zibenajad in a trade for Dreigder & J.Staal (both of which I got off waivers)

So really, I didn't really give up much of my roster in order to get them. Don't ask me though on what I gave up to get Svechnikov :'( ... that is the one trade I wish I had back once Hindsight kicked in.

Personally every time I go to buy low on Zibanejad a.) The manager refuses to consider him a buy-low, and b.) I always cancel anyways.

And that's as a Driedger owner (waiver) and J.Staal (on and off waivers). I'd just ride the waiver guys/ any hot hand. Zib may improve but in the meantime you are missing out on plenty of points. And if he does improve, will it be enough to account for all the missed points?

All in all, I like Malkin to improve, Halloween will improve except his plus minus, and Konecny I think will rebound. There is a lot of talent in Philadelphia but for whatever reason it seems like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.

Well then it sounds like you are playing with house money. Shrewd trades.

I think Malkin bounces back, as does Konecny who looked fantastic in his last two games.

Hall will rebound a bit, but unsure how much. Seems listless and lifeless in Buffalo. Just doesn't seem to be the right fit. But what is for Hall? Primodona. Maybe a trade to a contender will boost his numbers.

Zibby will rebound too. Not to last year levels, but to 2-3 years ago levels which will be just fine for the price you paid.
