Definitely need a few more deets.

How many teams in your league? Do positions matter? Do you have a minors system? As asked above, what does the rest of your roster look like?

    Sorry guys,
Position doesn’t matter. I have updated my Signature with pool details and current team. The top 3 teams I don’t see me catching for at least 3 to 5 years.

First off, I don't think it's a bad trade. Here's my problem with this trade. Laine is a solid piece to be building with in a rebuild and by making this trade, you're taking steps backwards in your rebuild, not forward. If you are constantly trading young players who are now established for younger players, your team is always in a rebuilding state. At some point, you have to transition from rebuild to competitive. This trade keeps you in a rebuilding state, not a competitive one. If you are only in it to "rebuild" then this is the trade for you. If you eventually want to move to the competitive state, I would keep what you have.

I would keep what you have. You have so many young guys already in the hopper.
As said above, this is an OK trade to lead into a rebuild but it looks like you are already decently along. In the next two years, several of the guys you have will finding their stride and you should be competitive again. Laine is only 22 he is a core piece of your roster.

Is there a difference in the points you get for a G vs A? If there's no difference, Laine loses value.

With no positional requirements and points only, Laine loses value. Not to mention he's not the type of guy to drive play himself and typically needs help around him to be productive. He's shooting 26% right now which is high even for him. I see him as an annual 35G 20A player with 50G 25A in his best years.

Now, I'm all for moving Laine as I think his name value his higher than actual. My hang ups with Byfield and Rossi are a) I expect Byfield will take a while to become productive and b) We aren't sure how Rossi is going to come back from COVID. Maybe shop around and see if you can't get a better offer.

Agree with the above. Byfield is 3-4 years away from being a productive member, and who knows what Rossi will be after his severe reaction to COVID19 (wish him well though). Laine is a definite keeper now, just a few years older and hasn't hit his prime yet. The others are projects.
I'd look at it differently if Laine was 27, but he'll be hitting his prime when your rebuild is done and he's a guy to build around, not trade for two (admittedly very talented) unknowns.
    Team 1:
J Hughes, Cooley (r), Bratt, Laine, M Tkachuk, Necas, A Svechnikov, S Jarvis, M Michkov (r), W Johnston, Zegras, Giroux, Norris, Couturier, B Jenner, T Krug, Burns, M Weegar, Werenski, Sergachev, B Clarke (r), Theodore, Sorokin , Oettinger, Askarov (r), Ersson
    12 teams, No salary cap
Keep 14 plus 4 rookies (under 150 GP) max 18 players
    Scoring: G (1), A (1), +/- (0.25), H (0.1), B(0.1), PIM (0.1), SOG (0.1), GWG (1), PPP (1), SHP (1),
    Goalies: W (2), SO (3), GA (-0.5), OTL (1), SV (0.1)
