Crazy to Drop Mantha?

I've seen some suggestions that he's missing playing with Larkin and Bertuzzi, but if he can only contribute with those two specific guys then he's an incredibly risk player to roster. I've been wondering if he's unhappy in Detroit or more specifically with Jeff Blashill, who seems to have been jerking him around a bit this season, but it also seems like maybe he's changed the way he plays to try and avoid injuries?

Whatever it is, the only category he's contributing to right now is shots (and even then, he's had 0 or 1 shots in 5 of his last 10 games). I know he's a notoriously streaky player, but 9 points, 4 PIMs, and 20 hits in 22 games is not why I want him on my team.

Is it crazy to think about dropping him? I'd love to trade him, but I've tried, and no one wants him at this point (in my second 12-team league, he's been a free agent since January 24). Unless something drastic changes over the next 34 games, it's hard to imagine spending a keeper spot on him.

It all depends how many keepers you have and how your team is doing this year.

I dropped him about two weeks ago league in sig. I was/am leading the pool despite rostering Mantha, Larkin, and Hronek and needed to move on.
I think if you dont have him as a lock as a keeper next year and there is someone producing on the wire than let him go.

It all depends how many keepers you have and how your team is doing this year.

I'm currently dead last and stockpiling prospects/young players to rebuild my roster. We use a salary cap for keepers (70% of the NHL cap), so there's no real limit to how many keepers you can have, but Mantha's salary doesn't justify his current production.

if you are dead last and in a rebuild then his production this year relative to cap doesnt really matter. you should be considering if his future production will be worth his cap hit. I would hold. Or at least wait till he goes off on a hot streak and try and sell. There is no real advantage to dropping him right now.
