Default Getting ready to pull the chute on Josi

So I'm about to lose for the 4th time with my only 2 wins coming against our leagues worst teams (yay, I'm not the worst). I drafted Josi in the 1st round of our redraft as a can't miss option and he's been a massive dud. Add to that a horrible draft and many panic add/drops that I wish I hadn't made and I'm on the outside looking in. I lack scoring depth so I've decided to go assist/peripheral heavy to grab as many cats as possible each week, I just have to win more than the other guy, doesn't need to be pretty.

Anyway, Josi isn't going to win me a championship this season and there's no market for him, even as toss in.....I'm thinking of dropping him for Sergachev, who is covering all the cats, as is Petry and Doughty, Hughes is my keeper and Gudas is a necessary evil and has been a pleasant surprise. I usually don't ride with 5 d-men but these guys are covering the board for me.

At worst, Josi's spot becomes another spot start space for me (5 adds per week). My +/- gets better, I lose some SOG each week.

    Thoughts?

I would not make that move. If anything just accept that this isn't your year and look to next year.

It's super tough to bail on him, but I at least get where you're coming from. Would dropping Iafallo make more sense for Serg?

This is a non-keeper move, if that has any bearing on the decision. I just feel like hanging on to him because it's Josi makes no sense if I can't make the playoffs this year. If I had a good feeling that his next 7 weeks are gonna be at a 50-60 point pace, then it's a no brainer.

It does, but I'd be carrying 6 d-men with only 3 starter spots and 1 Utility. I have a waiver claim for Couturier using Iafallo.

Right but then I still don't like straight up dropping him. Hope for a turnaround and then sell for a keeper upgrade if possible. Or can you trade for draft picks?

Yes we can trade for picks. So holding on to him does bring some upside if I don't make the playoffs, but only if he's producing. So it's a risk either way I suppose.

Edit: Maybe the move is to drop Gudas for Sergachev, being that Gudas is relatively one dimensional and hope that Josi turns his season around. I'll have to find hits via a forward trade.

Someone in one of my leagues has Josi on the block, and while it's a deep dynasty with cap, when I saw his name, I knew I had to put an offer together.

Josi's not really the problem in Nashville, it's the GM/Coach, and he's been decent enough.

If you can sell him for picks that would be some sort of a return. To give you an idea of what my offer was the core was DToews and a 2021 1st round entry pick. There are some more prospects/picks involved, mostly going to him, and couple other lesser players involved.

I'd probably still keep Hughes over Josi.

Yeah, I took a step back from the ledge. My team is better with Josi/Gudas than with Serg.
