Pettersson for Panarin

I was giving an offer of Panarin and a 9th for Pettersson and a 4th. 8 team keeper league. Keep 8 players. I’m current loaded with youngsters as I have Marner, Svechnikov, Makar and J. Hughes. Wondering if this is right move for my team moving forward. Any thoughts?

Depending on your league settings I think Panarin is a tad overrated. Couple that with whatever issues he's facing now and I'd rather have Petey and the higher pick.

I don't know your settings, but I think Panarin had his best season he's ever going to have last year (19-20) when it was cut short. The underlying metrics show that he led the league in secondary assists (with 28) last season meaning he is due for negative regression at some point. Given his role on the roster and talent, he will surely continue to get secondary assists but he cannot continue to at that rate and this is a strong indicator of regression. He'll also be 30 next season and will still be a force to be reckoned for years to come but his production will naturally start to decrease due to age year by year and as the youth take over in NYR... that being said, you have to like Pettersson's upside here given he's so young and is on the opposite side of this points curve than Panarin - Pettersson should be scoring more as time goes on and not less.

Also, with Panarin out for who knows how long, he doesn't help you right now when he is still the better player to own.
