Default Way too early keeper/trade planning!?

League setup in signature. Basically limited keeper (7F, 4D, 1G) pts only.

I've got too many hi salary guys to protect them all so wondering who you'd absolutely protect and who you'd be open to trading!? Bolded who I think are absolute keepers. Didn't bold Q. Hughes as his next contract is unknown but most likely a keeper. Figure I'll have to trade/drop Carlson!? Hard to trade in this league especially big salaries.

First, is that Erik Karlsson, John Carlson or some random quasi-doppleganger?

I like Petersen a lot at that price. I'm not saying he's for sure the guy to keep, but he should be in play.

Same with Guentzel - although keeping 7 F makes him more likely, versus 1 G.

If Kucherov isn't a keeper, he should be off your roster ASAP.

hahaha no idea how john carlson became eric carlson. So its John Carlson in Washington.

My goalie situation is way up in the air. Petersen being the only one with contract still same next season.

Guentzel is definitely in the running as a keeper.

Kucherov I grabbed off free agency when he was dropped. Can keep him on bench till end of season so added him as possible keeper/trade option for nothing.

Crazy to think of keeping both Kuch and Eichel? Probably would have to keep one on bench as a replacement in case of injury. Rostering both AND McDavid is not ideal cap wise.

    Guentzel a keeper for everyone?

Get rid of Carlson? Keep Byram as 4th D keeper? Try to trade for an upgrade (who?)?

I really hink that you should look at trading Kucherov now. He's not likely to help you this year, and if you have other good keeper options, which you certainly do, Whatever you get in trade helps you this year. I'd want to move him alone or as part of a package for a player on a very good longer contract that also helps you now.

Normally, this might be crazy, but Kucherov & Eichel for MacKinnon & ??? might get a nibble. It's bold, and MacKinnon's contract is excellent for a while. 2 clear top 10 guys for a top 3 guy & something seems like a solid move.

Would love to do that but the MacKinnon owner is my direct competition. We are in a very tight race where we trade first place 1-2 a week. Also he has Draisaitl and Matthews so couldn't take on the extra cap money.

Also hard to trade high salary players in my league. Couldn't find any takers for Carlson and Crosby last offseason.
