Fiala is having 2X more PP minutes than Hoffman and over 5minutes per game of ice time. Yesterday, Fiala played 22 minutes and Hoffman 12... and his game went in OT !! I would make this move for sure
Fiala was just dropped in one of my leagues (team 2 in sig). I'm thinking of dropping Hoffman for him. Would you do it if you're me?
Note the scoring settings: G = 2, A = 2, +/- = 0.5 (positive or negative, I hate this), and PIM = 0.25
Here are my other FA options:
- Nick Ritchie
- Zach Hyman
- Jordan Kyrou
- Jordan Greenway
- Alexandre Texier
- JVR
- Jeff Carter
- Ryan Strome
- Cam Atkinson
Thoughts? Is Fiala my guy? The shots are there.
I'll gladly rep any responses - thanks for your input!

I would absolutely drop Hoffman for Fiala. I would also keep an eye on Atkinson.
Yes, do it.
Fiala is bonafide top6, PP1 player.
STL is playing 3 lines deep right now... and Hoffman isn't top line or top PP unit.
That trend may continue through season.
Fiala > Hoffman (this year)
I wont lie, in a one year league, especially THIS year, I am starting to get leary on Minnesota skaters, even Kaprizov. They really dont have a legit center to play with any of these solid wingers. It's gotten so bad they have found a way to bring Victor Rask up from the dead to play in the dying minutes of the game with Fiala and Kaprizov. Their PP is 2-30 so far this year and this team is a proverbial mess down the middle.
Until they get something going, I think I'd look for better options than Fiala. They are out there. Even Nick Ritchie was playing the net front presence for the Bruins last night on PP1.

Not me.
MIN had the 11th best PP in NHL last year.
We're dealing with a small sample size for a lot of teams.
I mean, right now the Seguin-less Stars look like they have the best powerplay in the history of the NHL.
(They are 9/16).
Heck... the Chicago Blackhawks have the 2nd best PP in the NHL... at 9/21.
Minnesota is 3rd last... yeah, at 2/30.
That'll change - PP struggles don't last forever.
They did just tweak it a few games ago.
Suter/Spurgeon are running the PP1 with Parise/Kaprizov/Fiala... Fiala scored a PPG two games ago vs. SJ.
I think they started the season running a 4F:1D with Bonino and Spurgeon... but that wasn't working.
Teams will go with a new PP1 unit for a good 5+ games...
If it stinks, they'll fix it.
It's super easy to tweak a PP1 unit and MIN has enough solid pieces where they'll fix it.
Heck - maybe they can bring Brennan Mennell back from Russia!!! (I told them to do that last year... but they don't listen to me!!!)
You're more optimistic than me ole buddy. I mean, there's only one way to go when you're at the bottom so they really cant get any worse. I just dont like their centers enough to invest in their wingers at this point. Trades can change things, but not sure Billy G is going to do it. Apparently he was in on PLD but clearly didnt have the horses to make that trade. Their D is going to win them games more than their offense.
For now, I'd go with better options.

I'd do it. I just dropped Hoffman and held Fiala in a league that I'm in. Yes, Minnesota has problematic C's, but they have very good D and Fiala is going to get big opportunities and a lot of shots. Hoffman's opportunity is very much in doubt and I don't like the other options you have listed more than Fiala. Atkinson plays on a team that has relatively week centers as well and he won't get the PP opportunity that Fiala gets. Fiala is the biggest goal-scoring threat on Minnesota and Atkinson is very clearly behind Bjorkstrand and now Laine, for me.
