I have been offered Shesterkin and a 4th for Hart and a 6th. Shesterkin would count as a rookie allowing me to keep him next year, along with keeping Carlson and Makar as my 2D. Who would you rather have moving forward and is it a good idea to deal Hart away? My other goalies are Binnington and Blackwood. Team in sig

well i been beating the drum for long time that i dont trust any Philly goalies...i dont care who it is...maybe stupid strategy but it been working for over 20 years, every since Ron Hextall retired.

Both these guys are off to bad starts but i trust Shesterkin more than Hart personally and thats saying a lot considering his career just started...

    I like both goalies.
I want to say Hart over Shesterkin, but really I think they are pretty close to even.

You would be good with either goalie. Me I stick with Hart.

I always hear Hart being compared to Carey Price.... if you could have a young Carey Price... would you trade him for Shesterkin?

I know nothing is guaranteed.... but if you traded away a young Carey Price how much would you regret it when Carey Price was at his prime.

Hart being about 3 years younger and having arguably similar accomplishments makes me want Hart more. He has 3 years to grow into whatever Shestyorkin is now.

I'd keep Hart, unless it means you can keep someone extra who will be awesome, and you didn't have enough minors keeper options.

Getting Shesterkin would allow me to keep 2D (Makar and Carlson) and still keep a goalie as Shesterkin would still be considered a rookie (under 83GP) going into next season. If I kept Hart, I’d lose Makar or Carlson at seasons end.

    I would make this move.

While Hart > Shest is a fair debate, and I'd be fine with someone wanting Hart as their 1G moving forward, I think the reason you're asking is because you're trying to optimize your league format options... and I personally think you're right to.

Going in to next season with Mack/Kuch/Svech/Carlson/Makar + Kaprizov/Shest I'm guessing would give you the best "set of 7 keepers" in your league. That's the advantage you want to try to have every year.

Compare that to Mack/Kuch/Svech/Hart/and one of JC or Makar + Kaprizov/another rookie... I like what you're trying to do with this trade.

Add on a pick upgrade and I think you're setting yourself in the pole position for next year, which won't be (hopefully) as unpredictable as this current one is.

Only way I don't do this deal is if you think it will cost you a chance at winning this year. If you still think you're fine (with Binn/Black), I'm pulling the trigger.

Keep Hart and trade Carlson soon for a serious upgrade elsewhere.

Hart is significantly better than Shesterkin. One's a proven starting goalie the other one has 16 NHL games played while being 2.5 years older. I still think that Georgiev beats out Shesterkin for the starting role for the Rangers.

If you want to trade Hart, now is not the time to do it. Wait until he gets hot for a bit so his value returns to where it should be which is that of one of the 5 best goalies in the NHL.

Your keeper situation makes me consider Shesty but I just like Hart way more overall. I agree with tweetdrivr in trading Carlson sooner than later while he still carries top 5 D value to help sort out your keeper problem

How many teams keep goalies in this league? And how difficult is it to acquire rookies in general; you could target someone other than Igor.

I think in your format, it's a solid move.

It's essentially Shesterkin & 2 of Makar/Dahlin/Carlson or Hart & a rookie eligible you grab off the wire and only 1 of those D.

The difference long term between Hart and Shesterkin is minimal, and I actually prefer Shesterkin to Hart (as I say, the difference is minimal). The outlying factors is what makes me say do the deal. Pick upgrade plus you can keep both stud D. Shesterkin is off to a slow start but don't have blinders on and simply look at his numbers this season to date. He'll be fine.

This trade will end up being a win for you next year when you have to submit your keepers and at the draft.
