No you shouldn't. Theodore maybe but not Dahlin.
What's up guys!
As you can see in my team in sig, my defence is the biggest weakness of my lineup, and I'm currently looking to acquire Rasmus Dahlin. The guy who owns it in my league is currently first, and Dahlin is not paying at all right now, so he might consider moving him to get better in the immediate term.
My question is should I trade Mark Stone for Dahlin? As you can see, I'm currently rebuilding with a lot of young players (Lafreničre, Stützle, etc.), so by the time I'll be a contender again, Stone probably won't be producing as much as he is right now. My thinking is I should probably maximise his value in a trade and get better on defence, considering that I can only keep 11.
The other option is status quo and try to pick up Rasmus Andersson, Ty Smith or Bowen Byram when our first waiver comes in mid-february, but I feel their value isn't as high as Dahlin. He will bounce back sooner or later.
What's your take on all this? Is giving up Stone overpaying for Dahlin? League format in sig. Here's the other guy's team, if it helps :
F : Kopitar, Draisaitl, J. Hughes, W. Nylander, Nugent-Hopkins, Couture, B. Schenn, Huberdeau, Palat, Danault, Palmieri, Kadri
D : Dahlin, Theodore, Burns, Brodie, Ekman-Larsson, Ellis
G : Khudobin, Bobrovsky
Appreciate the help!

I think it's a decent idea from a rebuilding point of view. This isn't the kind of move you can make and expect to have it both ways though. Moving Stone will hurt for a few years, so if this is what you want to do, get ready to commit to the rebuild.
In my opinion, Dahlin is likely to become one of the top fantasy defense options for the foreseeable future. Kid's only 20! He's already got 2 full seasons and 84 NHL points under his belt. Do you know where Theodore was at his age? 19 games. At 25, he is up to about 0.5 points per game in his career. Dahlin is at 0.57 and again, is only 20. And plays for Buffalo, yes. But they won't be terrible forever.

I think this could be a rare buy-low window for Dahlin. I'd offer Stone, but with a pick upgrade coming your way. Don't start with your best offer - it makes a lot of sense for him to trade for Stone if he's going for it this year.

Right now, he's thinking about if he wants to trade Dahlin first and foremost, but we haven't worked out the full details of the trade yet. I don't even know if he'll agree to let him go, but if so, I can probably snag a good pick out of it.
I love Stone, but he's not useful right now because my team is too young. I have to play the patience game with guys like Lafreničre and Stützle, and they aren't producing. I don't want to waste Stone's good years, and I have a need on defence... I could trade him Johnny Hockey instead, but he's a bit younger, so it makes more sense to keep him.

I'd be pretty tempted to go for Johnny Hockey here too. Couple nice options for you.

I'm a big fan of Dahlin, there's too much potential there. As Stone is the current producer, see if you can get a pick out of it too. Stone is a really good player but by the time your competitive window is open, he won't be as useful. If I were you I'd try to trade Johnny for Dahlin but if not I'd do a deal around Stone as I think Dahlin is still worth the cost.

I would easily make that trade, aquiring dahlin in a keeper league is a good idea especially if your not competing yet.
