Markstrom vs Tor

I'm leaning Markstrom based on early returns, but Tor is still dangerous even if Matthews is maybe out, mind you Pitt can be too with their fire power.

I can also save a goalie game and play neither, but I'm guessing 1 of NYR or Calg will at least win, but who knows. It looks like NYR are shaking up their D today (Johnson scratched) so maybe that'll help, plus you'd think Shest will wake up soon, and I've been super impressed by Calg so far.

I've got 2 solids options, or maybe the Islanders will finally start Sorokin again (probably not), in which case I don't mind that, even though Jersey been playing well.

I am in the exact same situation tonight, Considered sitting both, considered starting both. Leaning towards just starting Markstrom, but I am all ears if others have opinions

I am not a huge fan of spot starting in roto. Unless it is a glaringly blatantly bad matchup. Which these aren’t. Your sig is not updated and does not say if your league is roto or H2H. Looks like roto to me. Goalies in roto are drafted and played for their stats as a cumulative number at the end of the year. It appears that you use no rate stats and that there a zero punitive (stats that take away points) cats. There is zero reason not to start any goalie in this format.

Yep I am finding this as well. I am rarely in roto leagues but I've tried spot starts in the Dobber league twice this year and I've missed out on 2 wins.

The game has already started but the advise is the same. Start the goalie you invested the most in (draft rank, auction $, keepers). You acquired that goalie for a reason.

I did start Markstrom, tough loss but was close.

Shesterkin lost as well, and last minute roughly, and Sorokin too haha, so aside from using a goalie game, I wasn't getting a win anyways.

And not sure why my signature doesn't work in original post, it says "show your signature".

I'm in a Points based keeper league, no peripherals, so just care about wins, shutouts, and you get points for overtime/shootout losses too.

You guys mention spot starting, not sure exactly how you mean in the context of my league, I have 56 games to play, we start 1 goalie, so I have to use up those games and thus you use different goalie at different times.

For instance Calgary and NYR have played 4 games each, but I've used up 7 goalie games. I'm not going to burn goalie games every time either of those teams play, I need to keep to a 56 game pace so I don't run out of goalie games with like 10 to go, so in situations I'll not start anyone. Obviously there will also be cases where neither of my main 2 goalies are playing, so will save the odd start that way too, but usually on any given night when one of those teams play I have 1 of them going, and my other goalie is Sorokin (haven't used yet).

I also stream here or there, Ie: Driedger, Elliot, so I'm not totally dependant on my rostered goalies, I sometimes grab a guy for "spot start".
