Not sure how much better Laine will enjoy playing under Torts in another small market....

For fantasy purposes:

I think Dubois should do fine in Winnipeg. Lots of talent around him. Will put up good numbers if he can get on the 1st PP unit.

Laine should do ok in Columbus, but might have a small regression. Less talent around him and and a traffic jam of RW shooters. Laine likely sees 1st line deployment.

CBJ might be slightly worried about Laine's contract status hurting value? Could be back with another disgruntled RFA start come the off season.

In my opinion this goes one of two ways...
Laine gets Torts fired
Or Torts turns Laine into the 50 goal guy we all know he can be.

Here’s the crux of it for me...again...my opinion...
Maurice is a terrible hockey coach.
Torts is a jerk but a really good hockey coach. It’s all going to be down to how Laine sees his new situation. If he allows himself to be coached by Torts - it’s a big win for all on the CBJ end of things. That’s a pretty big if. But it’s there.

Did CBJ just shake down the Jets? As problematic as Laine's career has been thus far, I think CBJ far and away got the higher ceiling, harder to find player. I get that C's are so important. But there generally seems to be more top end C's available through draft or trade than there is elite wingers. And even though Laine has struggled to produce at times and been injured a bit often, I still say he has elite upside as a goal scorer and winger. I seriously would have thought CBJ would had to include a 1st round pick and high end prospect to get Laine. Unless the Jets know something no one else does and Laine just isn't capable of what we think he is. But I really think, barring Laine not crappin the bed, we will look back on this and say what a steal this trade was for CBJ. And I expect PLD to be a very very good 2C for them.

Can't forget Roslovic. He could still end up a top 6 forward for CBJ. And CBJ still has Bemstrom who I like a lot, 2018 2nd Marchenko, 2020 1st Chinakhov and don't lose any 1st or 2nd round picks. Loving it for CBJ.

And I think Foudy eventually going to have a blast playing with Laine. Maybe with Bemstrom, Roslovic or Bjorkstrand on the opposite wing to Laine?

I am actually interested to see if they try to use Roslovic as a C and maybe shift Domi to wing or keep Domi as C.

Yes that was my first thought as well. LAINE far superior than Dubois. But if Dubois is at least a 70pt 2nd center it will be ok for the jets.
