    His AAV will be the same.

    Kessel contract is a good example of how AAV vs retained salary is operated. If you're asking for fantasy purposes, look at Kessel's contract to see if your league does it differently. (Leafs retained 1.2mill salary still)

    No. However if he gets bought out, and then signs elsewhere, it would change - see Shattenkirk for an example.

    He can't be bought out until the next off-season. Deangelo and the Rangers could mutually agree to terminate his contract but I don't see any way that Deangelo agrees to that and forfeits $8M.
