    Default Dropping DeAngelo?

    Hey gang,

I feel like it may be time to cut bait on DeAngelo. I can deal with having a problem child on my team but once he starts getting scratched, it's hard not to look elsewhere.

Trading isn't really an option as our league lost two managers this year and is pretty shallow with only 10 teams currently.

The guys I am looking at are:

Andersson --> looking good on PP1 even if not getting much puck luck yet
Toews --> seems like a lock beside Makar and his 6 block game is giving me the feels

It's for the banger league in the signature. Which is why I kinda liked DeAngelo's mix of offence and PIM potential.

What do you guys think? Pick up one of these guys? Or show some patience with QAnongelo?

He's played one game so far this season and was in there for just over 15mins. Four and a half of those minutes was on the PP. I'd show some more patience. They play twice this weekend. See what happens.

Get rid of the guy regardless of what he may bring to your fantasy team.

I dealt Logan Couture this summer when he made those stupid comments and I felt so good doing it. There are some things in life bigger than your fantasy hockey league.

I wouldn't drop him. But personally, I would be trying to trade him and did in any league I had him in after the first game. DeAngelo is a good offensive D man. But he isn't long for the Rangers as they have too many up and coming awesome D prospects that will demand PP time. And without PP time Tony's fantasy value is shot. He will eventually have to find a new team, that doesn't have so many options on the PP. Until then, I think he's going to be hit and miss. Totally depending on usage. And his attitude and hot temper don't help matters. But once Nils Lundqvist, Robertson, Schneider etc... are with the Rangers, DeAngelo will have no purpose here. Miller all ready looks like he could eventually replace Tony offensively and be 10x as good defensively. Fox similarly. But I think Nils Lundqvist will eventually be the top d man, the top star PP guy and usage guy on this team. He has all the makings of a super stud.

@Chuckcouples - You realize that just because someone has different political views than you, they don’t automatically become “stupid”, right? Let’s keep the politics out of hockey please.

I agree. He's a shitty and stupid human being regardless of his political beliefs.

@Schneider - Would you like to elaborate on why you feel that he is a “stupid human being”? If it has nothing to do with his political beliefs (which he shares with 50% of the American population) or conduct on the ice, then I would love to hear about it.

I don't care about political views as long as you don't hate any subset of the population. Deangelo is a proven racist and homophobe. He has been suspended 4 times for offensive comments including an 8 game suspension by his own team for what he called his own teammate. This has nothing to do with his political leanings. He's also a fantasy asset that is quickly losing value as teams realize there is more to building a championship team than skill. It's hard for the Rangers to bring in their star prospect such as K'Andre Miller when they have Tony Deangelo playing a prominent role on the team.

Logan Couture made up a story on social media about being punched in the face for saying he voted for the Republican Party and Trump. I don't care what his political leanings are, I care that he made up a story for some sort of personal gain (and was caught in it). That's why I got rid of him.

I like how being racist, homophobic, misogynistic and anti-science is framed as political leanings rather than an indictment on his character. All this "keep politics out of hockey" is much akin to the "shut up and dribble" diatribe that permeate our society. What happened to freedom of speech all of a sudden?

I don't want to say too much more, because people will get their feathers ruffled. At the end of the day, what people do with their fantasy hockey rosters is their prerogative. If hockey managers don't want a player on their team for whatever reason, that's fine.

On a side note, remember when Couture got caught sharing a porn link on his twitter, then lied about it saying he got hacked?
