Short Term D

Hi all,

I own DeAngelo but I am not confident with his situation. I have tried to trade him, but with no success. I think I may use one of my 3 pick-up in the waivers to add more depth to my D. I have Makar, Pietrangelo, Burns, Sergachev, DeAngelo and Valimaki. The best four D counts, the others are only back-ups.

So I can drop Puljujarvi that sleeps on the 3rd line to get one extra D.

My options are

R. Andersson
Grzeclyk
Sanheim
Butcher
Severson
Dunn
Graves
Lindell

Is there an obvious pick here? I can hold a bit more to Puljujarvi and see later how thing turns out. But the other GM in my league are quick to burn their 3 picks and empty the waiver pool.

Don't think any of these are worth burning one of only 3 pickups for the year. But if I had to pick I'd probably take a shot with Subban. In this setup you're not looking for a solid dependable guy. Feast or famine is the way to go.

It's tough.

There's a couple young guys you can gamble on - Grzyelek/Andersson, but you're gambling on their offensive situation same as you are with DeAngelo getting out of the dog house.

With only 3 moves a year I'd be reluctant to use it just yet. Chances are in another week or two the waiver pool will be similar.

If they're not a keeper I'd save the pick for now.
That being said I really like Andersson long-term but you've already got Valimaki. I'd hold onto DeAngelo and see if he gets traded. Injuries and COVID19 scratches in the compressed season are going to be a huge factor.

Even better if he becomes a good keeper option or allow to trade someone else.

In my league, most pick-up are gone in thr next month, including mine 🤣

So far I have not use any of my 3 waivers. Andersson is still there, and Dobson as well, who is showing sign of life (he was not on my radar).

Is he worth a pick up? He would be free of protection until he gets 150g.

be patient, they didn't hand him a two year contract for his defense so one way or the other he will get his offensive opportunities or they trade him.
