Thompson is starting on the top line alongside Eichel so I have to go with him.

It's a dynasty salary cap league with NHL AAVs. Which forward do you like best:
Adrian Kempe at $2,000,000 for next 2 years
Brandon Tanev at $3,500,000 for next 5 years
Tage Thompson at $1,400,000 for next 3 years
Thompson is starting on the top line alongside Eichel so I have to go with him.
I was hoping to see a few other responses here as well!! Oh well, I'll give my .02 cents.
Given the options and salary, I go highest upside which is Tage Thompson. But only barely. I'm a big fan of Tanev and his points on hits alone are valuable. He's good for 15 goals and 30-40 points as well. I'd probably rank him a close 2nd.
I actually like Kempe but I'm not seeing a breakout necessarily. I'm hopeful but just not as much evidence with him.

Tanev had 11.5 points in game 1!!!
Thompson had 4.5
Kempe had 0.5.
I currently own Kempe and Tanev but have an offer of Tanev + 4th round pick (I have 6 of them) for Thompson. Mostly because I think his upside is higher and because I could use the $2.1M in cap room.
Chuck, are you competing this year?
I'd take Tanev this year (and maybe next) but that's no knock on Thompson.
I should mention - I watch the Pens a lot and Tanev is often their most motivated player.

Tanev's line has been the best line for the Penguins in the first two games.
I'd do it if you can use the cap room, and wait the youth & upside. For just this year, I'm not sure.

I ended up sticking with Tanev and Kempe and I am very happy with that decision. Kempe's playing with Kopitar and is on PP1. Tanev does what he does and racks up fantasy points in hits leagues. Thompson has been relegated to the 3rd line.
