What I find interesting is they are going to pay him whether he's on the ice or not simply because of his contract. Whether he's "fallen out of favor or not", and to say he "doesn't factor into their plans", he's still better than half of their Dmen on their current roster. It's not like Florida is flush with high end Dmen that could force him out of the lineup.

To me, this is just a d!ck move by the Panthers.

Hockey wise this can’t make sense. He was a plus minus 0 on a terrible team, was very good offensively... and I haven’t seen anything in his play that suggests he’s finished. I know the panthers want to shed salary but they’d have to pay him anyway. Seems like them creating a bitter environment so he’d accept a trade. Wtf

Yandle is a RHD, they have Ekblad, Stralman, and Gudas as their RHD. I thought they'd at least test one of them on the other side to fit Yandle in. Seems like a dick move and not a move with much foresight.

What do you do with a declining D at 6.2m with a NMC that you don't want anymore? Bench him and hope he asks for a trade.

I know he has played on his off-side before, and I'm pretty sure he was on the RS last yr too with Florida. Being a LHS with all those RHD you'd think it would just make sense to go, "Ok Yandle+Gudas" but yet here we are.

That was the point I was trying to make. I have a hard time seeing Yandle being a worse Dman than Stillman, Juulsen or Forsling so why is he not playing? Even as the 7th Dman. It's just silly.

Ya the whole situation makes little sense, unless something behind the scenes happened. Would be interesting to know if Florida was shopping Yandle at all this offseason, or is this something that happened around camp.

You'd think the news of Florida shopping a guy liek Yandle would have come out at some point over the offseason.
