This sounds like fun. Here are mine:

    1. Montreal misses the playoffs, leading to the firing of GM Marc Bergevin.
    2. A goalie not playing for a New York team wins the Calder.
    3. Two teams will finish with less than 50 games played due to COVID.
    4. We will see a player flirt with 50 goals in 50 games.
    5. A defenseman wins the Hart trophy (unless number 4 happens).
    6. Fighting skyrockets, with at least 10 players involved in at least 10 fights each. (By comparison, last year saw only one player involved in 10 fights)
    7. Zero coaches are fired during the season.
    8. McDavid reaches 100 points.
    9. Washington finishes with a bottom-five power play.
    10. Pittsburgh trades Malkin to the Kings.

    Really like that one!

Let's take a spontaneous stab at this.

    1. The Ottawa Senators do NOT finish last in the Canadian division, as another team really stumbles.
    2. Elvis Merzlikins runs away early with the number 1 role in Columbus and finishes top-5 in wins.
    3. San Jose makes the playoffs as the 4th seed in the West.
    4. Trevor Zegras wins the Calder.
    5. Nick Suzuki is a point per game player, gets consideration for the Hart trophy.
    6. Dallas is a bottom-5 team at the end of the season.
    7. Ilya Sorokin struggles mightily and spends some time in the AHL.
    8. Shea Theodore is the third best scoring dman, behind Makar and Hughes.
    9. One coach will get COVID-19 and will need to step down because of complications.
    10. The Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup Champs.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.

    1. Pettersson wins the Rocket
    2. We see a goalie get a sub 2GAA (as in a starter/a 50 50 split)
    3. A defenseman gets PPG by the end of the yr
    4. The season needs to be extended to make up for cancelled games
    5. One of our top 3 players (McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon) gets an extended injury
    6. For 3 of the 4 final playoff spots, they come down to the rescheduled final game
    7. Leafs do the opposite of what they do. They come out slow, and end surging.
    8. Minnesota makes the playoffs

    I can't think of anymore.

    1. Grigori Denisenko wins the Calder playing alongside Barkov and Huberdeau
    2. John Gibson wins the Hart Trophy and the Vezina as the Ducks finish 3rd in the division behind Colorado and Vegas.
    3. Flyers beat Pittsburgh 6-3 on opening night - Nolan Patrick and Oskar Lindblom each score hat-tricks.
    4. Oskar Lindblom leads the Flyers in points.
    5. Karill Kaprizov wins the Rocket Richard.
    6. Ottawa and Buffalo make the playoffs
    7. Nashville Predators win the Presidents Trophy and the Stanley Cup.
    8. Tampa's Stnaley Cup hangover and the loss of Kucherov, is too much to overcome in a 56 game season and miss the playoffs by one points. Winning 8 straight games to finish the season.
    9. An NHL team gets hit hard with COVID to some star players and ties the Penguins record of 18 straight losses.
    10. Colorado or Vegas, surpass the Penguins longest winning streak of 17 games... and win 19 straight games... they lose game #20 in a shootout to the Ducks

Let's try this again this year as last year was a fail (see the end of the post).

    1. Ville Husso plays more games than Jordan Binnington and has better numbers.
    2. Connor McDavid wins the Art Ross, the Rocket Richard and the Hart Trophy when he puts up 111 points.
    3. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins finishes 2nd on the Oilers in scoring but does not sign a new contract (...until after the expansion draft).
    4. 4 dmen lead their teams in scoring
    5. 1 goalie plays more than 46 games this year...no other goalie plays 40 games
    6. Igor Shesterkin is outplayed by Alex Georgiev.
    7. 2 California teams make the playoffs (I am counting San Jose as a California team even though they may be playing out of Arizona)
    8. There are more point per game players than in any previous season.
    9. Cam Talbot finished top 3 in Vezina voting.
    10. Egor Zamula finishes the year on Philadelphia's top PP unit.

Bonus 11: A Canadian team advances to the NHL's semi-finals for the first time in a few years!

    My prediction's last year:

Chuckcouples' 15 Fearless Forecasts for 2019/20

    1) The Oilers, Wild and Ducks all make the playoffs - WRONG
    2) Tampa Bay does not win the Atlantic - CORRECT...but they did win the Stanley Cup so kind of wrong
    3) 2 dmen score 30 goals - WRONG...only 1 scored 20
    4) At least 1 teams most used PP combination has 5 forwards - WRONG
    5) A goalie plays in 70+ games - WRONG...only a few teams played 70 games!
    6) The NHL sets a modern day record for most short handed goals in a season - ???
    7) Jordan Binnington does not lead the Blues in games started this season - WRONG
    8) Connor McDavid leads the league in scoring AND has 50+ power play points - WRONG (he did have 43 PP points as a member of the best PP in the past 20 years)
    9) 3 rookie dmen have 50+ points (you're guess is as good as mine at who the 3rd one is but I think we all know the first 2) - WRONG (Fox only had 42 in 70 games...which is 49.2 pace on an 82 game season)
    10) An NHL player finishes the year at +50 for the first time since Jeff Schultz in 2009/10 - WRONG...Graves led with +40
    11) 1 NHL team goes 82 games without a fight - ???
    12) The Oilers have 3 players not names Leon, Ryan or Connor who score 25 or more goals - WRONG...only Leon and Connor scored 25
    13) The Minnesota Wild's goaltenders win the William Jennings Trophy - WRONG...so very wrong
    14) A guy who was claimed on waivers between now and the end of November scores 20 goals - WRONG (I think)
    15) The Colorado Avalanche do not make the playoffs - WRONG

Pengwin7 and I agree on Hart winning the Vezina. Pop quiz - if Hart does indeed win, he'll be the second youngest winner since 1990. Without looking, who was the youngest? Answer today because when my column goes live tomorrow it will be revealed. Oh, and the average age of Vezina winners for all time is 28.9, which I thought was interesting - not surprising per se, just interesting.

I'll go with Tom Barrasso, only because I remember he beat Yzerman for the Calder back around '83.
