Default Indians deal Lindor/Carrasco to Mets

I know the Jays were rumored to be in on Lindor but I am glad they didnt get him without some sort of long term guarantees. Hes only got one year left of control and his next contract is going to be a doozy. Not to mention the young assets it would have cost them. They have bigger holes to fill.

With a rotation of Syndergaard, Degrom, Stroman, Carrassco, and I think Matz? the Mets I would think are out on Bauer. If they truly want to spend 30mill on a guy who will be their 4th SP and have Carrassco be the 5th/RP pitcher in the postseason thats a lot of money for that position.

Springer would still be on the table for Cohen and the Mets though.

I think Springer heads there now and we get to see another run by the Mets.

The fact the Jays haven't landed a big fish yet might indicate players don't want to go there unless the Jays are overpaying. Springer is a good example.

Not overpaying and have major uncertainty about where they're playing this year....not a huge deal but I think it would still factor in.

This has been the case basically for the last 20 years.

They want names - they need wins

Jays offered 115mill/5yrs to Springer. I think Mets have offered 125mill/5yrs to Springer. That was before the trade, however with Cano's suspension, they practically only gained 12mill in cap with Carrassco.

So another player in Springer isn't a big deal.

Now. IF Springer goes to Mets. That's one less player for LeMahieu. You can get DJ for 90mill-ish, and use the leftover space for pitching/bullpen help, which they greatly need.

Yep they most definitely need a few arms if they want to compete.
