I'd assume it's Kaps to lose.

Fingers crossed they can both stay healthy for a competitive finish!

I agree with pretty much everyone before me, Kap will likely win it, I personally think his age does make a difference, but honestly, if he wins it, not like it's undeserved in the least! He's been hyped for the past few years, for the last 2 anyways has been hyped as the best player not in the NHL, he's got the nicknames, the flashy goals, even his name pops lol, just sounds like a goal scorers name (ala Zigmund Palffy).

All things being equal and no bias at all, I think Robertson is pretty damn close to pushing Kap off, also if Shesty can will the Rangers into a playoff spot I think he should get it.

One thing we can agree upon, this is a heck of a rookie class, may not have the high, high end of some previous classes, but it's deep, going to be a lot of good players for years to come.

Also...Is this the deepest rookie class for goalies in, god...forever? Shesty, Sorokin, Lankinen, Vanecek, Kahkonen, Oettinger, Nedeljkovic, Swayman (played few games but has looked really good).

Robertson being a minus-4 against Detroit should disqualify him.

    Goalie and draft yr:
    Shesterkin - 2014
    Nedeljkovic - 2014
    Merzlikins - 2014
    Sorokin - 2014
    Johnson - 2014
    Husso - 2014
    Kakonen - 2014
    Demko - 2014
    Vanacek - 2014

That's insane. This could end up being a VERY strong draft class with Ekblad, Draisaitl, Ehlers, Nylander, Pasta, Point, Arvidsson, Olofsson, Kase, Montour, Donato, Dvorak, D. Toews, Forsling (D), Engvall plus the 1st rounders that are good (Fiala). Nuts draft 7 yrs later now that goalies are maturing.

Scary and noteworthy how long it takes goalies to develop into NHL viable options. So many give up too early on a lot of these guys just because they dont hit within a year or two.

i do believe most teams know goalies take longer to develop to be ready for the show. early success is mistaken for being ready when there are inevitable bumps on the road (Hart). It looks like mid-20's is a reasonable expectation.

the ironic part to me is that for many years trading a goalie usually amounted to not alot of trade value as teams rarely moved first rounders for them and if you did keep your star goalie it is an overpay if its more than X dollars per season. talk about underappreciated!

I'd have to check on some others but for sure Demko isn't a rookie anymore

Why would they have looked for a goalie in this draft?

Edit - and honestly they got a good player in the 7th rd with Jake Evans. Nothing thrilling but a solid pick none the less.

Well they took Fucale a year before this. He had some high hopes.

6 goals in 5 games now for Kirill. He heard this thread was revitalized and wanted to put an end to it.
