I effin hated this draft, somehow got sandwiched between temek(6) and EskimoBro(8).
EskimoBro probably drafts players I "love" closer to me than any other person.
And of course temek, along with LOTR, are the two greatest fantasy hockey successors in Dobber draft history. (IMO)

This was just a brutal draft... as I drafted in the RHRS one-year league with these guys just two days ago (Sunday).
[As a nut-job, I have chosen to conspiracy theory that the reason they took all my picks is because they studied my guys and nabbed them out from under me... because they know how keen I am.]
[Also... it's possible... maybe... that they also identify the same good players!]

BOLD - player I took. (Sandwiches: Temek-P7-Eskimo Bro in odds rounds, EskimoBro-P7-temek in even rounds)

    Round 1: 5.Vas, 6.Matthews, 7.Eichel, 8.Svech, 9.Marner
My queue for this spot was Matthews/Eichel/Svech. When Vas went at #4 I was giddy about not having to go with Svech... prepared for heartbreak at not getting Matthews, confirmed.

    Round 2: 4.EP40, 5.Marchand, 6.Pastrnak, 7.Binnington, 8.Ziba
All indicators suggest Pasta is close. I can grind through until Feb without him. I actually had Pasta as my #1... just was hoping that others hadn't vibed the same positive forecast I'm feeling on his health.

    Round 3: 5.Point, 6.Hamilton, 7.Josi, 8.Rantanen, 9.Makar
I knew goalies would thin by hf's standard round 2/3 G/G draft, but also Hart went, so goalies were a "wait" for me. Wanted Hamilton, #1 in queue, but took my #2 Josi.

    Round 4: 4.M-Tkachuk, 5.Tavares, 6.Hall, 7.Lehner, 8.Stone
To win a league you might as well double down on a dice throw. If somebody said you could throw two dice, or double a single-die... what do you choose? If you are going for a win - against several players, you should choose to double one die. Roll a 5, that's 10... possible win. You roll a 6, you get two 6s... lock win. (or lock tie). So.. Eichel... Hall.
I'm not going for "balance" here, I'm going for a win. I haven't won the top Dobber Tier division.

Q: Do you know what is a lock to find on every Pengwin7 roster???
    A: A former Windsor Spitfire.

    Round 5: 5.Shesterkin, 6.Rielly, 7.Samsonov, 8.Jarry, 9.Q-Hughes
TOR should be dope here, I had Rielly at #1, but also wasn't sad because know I "needed" goalies with the 130gp issue. Three teams worth is the ONLY way to lock that up.
IMO, best target team is WAS... because, the backup fades to well later in draft. Teams like VGK, COL, BOS... teams would probably need to get the backup before round 12. With Samsonov, I though Vitacek could be gotten around rd18-20, better value for 56gp.

    Round 6: 4.Ullmark, 5.Grubauer, 6.Dahlin, 7.RNH, 8.Krug
I bit my tongue here, but I did want Grubauer, then I was willing to finish it with Francouz the following round. Effin EskimoBro takes him right in front of me. I decided to triple-down on BUF offense with Dahlin. Could be a #1 NHL PP... I think.

    Round 7: 5.Boeser, 6.Kuemper, 7.Mrazek, 8.Francouz, 9.Barzal
I know temek likes Kuemper's periphs, that's fine, I was actually expecting that and happy - as I prefer the CAR team duo, and thought I could get Reimer later (rd 15 or so). I had it locked up that Alex would be my doppleganger and take Francie, he did.

    Round 8: 4.Nylander, 5.Weber, 6.Fleury, 7.DeBrincat, 8.O'Reilly
In retrospect, I don't like this pick... and didn't need this pick... but I was annoyed with temek for busting up my wants... and decided to eff with him by not letting him get Lehner/Fleury duo... he had the pick after me. Sorry temek, I had to... you are too much of a threat. (I did this to Ma in RHRS, but had to let it slide to Alex the previous rounds to get my 2nd "team goalies" going)

    Round 9: 4.Hoffman, 5.Theodore, 6.Monahan, 7.Talbot, 8.Werenski, 9.Holtby
This was actually the first round where the guy I wanted went before the temek/EB frontage. Hoffman was the guy I wanted... and Robert Thomas later.
I went with Talbot because I do think I'll need a 3rd goalie team... it's even harder getting the starts in a WeeklyWaiver league... because everybody is hip to goalie-stock-rise before the waiver day.
And it's been impossible to trade-for a goalie once everybody knows they are behind pace. I'm going after a top 2 Win/SV in this league... that alone should keep me away from relegation.. and if my GAA/SV% is top 5, I've got a shot at #1.

    Round 10: 4.Ehlers, 5.Chabot, 6.DeAngelo, 8.Kadri, 8.Heiskanen
(Jan31 edit: I had no idea TonyD had such crap attitude... what a waste... thinking of straight dumping him.)

    Round 11: 5.Perron, 6.Horvat, 7.Kaprizov, 8.Kuznetsov, 9.Fiala
I wanted BOTH Kaprizov/Fiala... and, like RHRS, being in middle of round, its impossible to get them both. They went two spots apart in RHRS, they go two spots apart here. But I got Kaprizov. I think he's the real deal and I really need to take a HUGE risk in scoring because my offense is last in league based on the amount of draft-stock I've made in G&D to this point.

    Round 12: 4.Reinhart, 5.Bishop, 6.Grzelcyk, 7.Dumba, 8.Olofsson
McAvoy was a guy I wanted a few rounds earlier, I got him in RHRS. I don't normally "diversify my portfolio" in fantasy hockey - prefering to go after one option... but I balanced my McAvoy pick in RHRS with Grz here. I'm not honestly sure who runs that PP1 in BOS for the duration of season... but I want some piece of it. Either way, Grz should get offense and +/-... I'll get my Hits elsewhere on D.

    Round 13: 5.Yandle, 6.Sergachev, 7.Arvidsson, 8.Lafreniere, 9.Keller
Fugg did I want Serg here. He's ready to pop and could be a top 10 Dman this year... effin temek, again. Fortunately, Arvidsson (who is downranked from injury GP missed last year) is available way later than he should be. And I did need offense still.

    Round 14: 4. Hronek, 5.Muzzin, 6.Spurgeon, 7.Zucker, 8.Tatar
Spurgeon continues to improve his game. He's one of the least sexy names/picks in fantasy hockey, but he's so solid and with the MIN PP units improving... I want some of that. I'm seeing him/Dumba playing a 3F/2D PP1 unit for MIN. Solid.

    Round 15: 1.N-Suzuki..... 5.Hischier, 6.Palat, 7.J-Hughes, 8.Suter, 9.D-Strome
Nick Suzuki (via hf's autodraft) was the first time in draft that hf's queue plucked a guy from us. We all slept on Suzuki and shouldn't have... that'll be great value. Hughes is HUGE risk, but also could be HUGE reward. He's gotta be better, esp w/Hischier out.

    Round 16: 4.Koskinen, 5.Pavelski, 6.Reimer, 7.Hornqvist, 8.Stuetzle.
effin EskimoBro... I wanted Pavelski... and then I got flustered... and my back-up plan for getting flustered is to at least finish a goalie-tandem... 56gp CAR... check. (But then I find out about effin A.Forsberg,,,, fugg)

    Round 17: 5.Burakovsky, 6.Atkinson, 7.Vanecek, 8.J.Anderson, 9.Kakko
My internet cut here... I had to borrow my wife's phone (she was mad) and her 5G to get back on draft via mobile. I hate mobile apps for big-number-data-interpreting. It was painful. I want to cry. I don't know how anybody drafts on their phone.
(***Draft disclosure: When I, P7, draft... it's without tools, no pre-rank, no FHG [which is cheating, IMO, great tool, but cheating], and I make chat, have fun... it's about the fun... but trying to scroll through players on a phone is awful. I started loading up my queue including about 8-10 skaters... and ALL had gone in the time that I set them up and got back to a working PC... it was awful.)
Thanks god, though, that I had the backup for WAS. 56gp WAS, check.

    Round 18: 4.Puljujarvi, 5.Buchnevich, 6.Kahkonen, 8.Severson, 8.Raanta
So... I wanted Buchy here. Great pick on NYR top lines... found him, added to queue, GONE, one pick before me. As always. effin EskimoBro this time. So queue took Kahkonen, but this gives me all MIN gp (56?) until Stalock healthy.

    Round 19: 5.Armia, 6.DeBrusk, 7.N-Foligno, 8.Parise, 9.A-Boqvist
I waffled between Foligno & Parise. I took Parise in RHRS - who should have better offense playing with Kaprizov... but I needed grit back... and Foligno does it while also providing PP.

Sometimes... it's fun to draft a solid dude, a captain, a dad... NickFo:

    Round 20: 4.Romanov, 5.R-Thomas, 6.Beauvillier, 7.R.Andersson, 8.Husso.
Robert Thomas is my boy. EskimoBro again... it's so painful... SO PAINFUL. All draft this effin happened. I mean, somebody could tiptoe over to my RHRS... I mean, should I even bother writing these anymore... they are such clear indicators of guys I love... I hate you EskimoBro... HATE YOU. (Not really, I mean... you are me, hopefully with a better sex life... so, live that life bud... live it up. If you win... I'm winning vicariously... Bro. NoseKiss.)
    Beauvillier is already - actually could out-stat Thomas... but I just love having some player who I actually love IRL. {sigh}

    Round 21: 5.Dunn, 6.Lindblom, 7.Labanc, 8.Reaves, 9.Delia
Somebody's gotta score for SJ... I don't love this pick, but it works. I actually had to pick forwards and one D will ALL of my final picks... just to fill up starters slots!!! That's how many goalies I drafted! (7... if you are counting at home)

    Round 22: 4.Necas, 5.Dobson, 6.Batherson, 7.Vatrano, 8.Duclair
Actually - I started having fun in Round 22. Because I reached that "peaceful" point of the draft where I realized... "Hey, P7... it ain't your year... you are basically playing chess with a computer. You can play your absolute best game... and you know what... you are still not winning. So take pride in your draft - and don't worry about not getting your guys." Batherson is line 1. I'm still reminded of when temek skunked the RHRS a few years ago in Panarin's rookie year. Brilliant. I think of that towards the end of draft.every.effin.year. And Batherson is playing RW1 with FIRST.ROUND.PICK.BRADY.TKACHUK. Getting first line guys in round 22, round 25... WOW - could.be.Panarin-ish.

For that "find" - I decided the team namesake needed to come here.
Drake's Bathhouse... it's got a ring doesn't it. Sexy. The fantasy hockey gods love sexy names. This team name is worth a 5pt standings bump alone.
(Fantasy Hockey Gods in my ear: "OK... that's fair... we can do that for you." Nice.)

    Round 23: 5.Zegras, 6.Dvorak, 7.Kessel, 8.Driedger, 9.Bear
I never touch Phil Kessel... that chubby-fugger. But he shoots the puck... and I'm guessing I need SOG badly with my skaters... so I went there.

    Round 24: 4.Farabee, 5.Zadorov, 6.McNabb, 8.Orlov, 8.Backlund
McNabb hits... and he pairs with Pietrangelo... on the Vegas Golden Knights. He should be superb in two cats... and that's as best as one can get from a round 24 D-man.

    Round 25: 5.Hagg, 6.Mangiapane, 7.Norris, 8.Grigorenko, 9.Schultz
Do you know who has two thumbs and finds a first line center and PP1 forward in round 25... yeah, it's this guy.

Overall, really happy with this draft, but not expecting much in results:

    Draft Grade: A
Predicted Finish: 6/12 (You can only win fantasy hockey by drafting more value than the round... and I just had to settle for my 2nd pick too often. My goalie strategy with the Yahoo 65gp glitch should be enough to avoid relegation though. If I can overpace in goalie starts, I can at least trade for forwards to make up pace. Making up skater pace is always possible... but not goalies, not in this format.)

    Bathhouse OUT!

I was having that same problem when starting the league threads. I would try to post the draft results placeholder and it would just edit the previous post. I had to go post elsewhere as you noted.

Speaking of which, I don’t know what I am doing wrong but I’m having real trouble getting the draft results posted. I’m also realizing that I never posted the draft order. I will get to it.

Between fantasy hockey: seven Yahoo drafts, two Fantrax best ball slow drafts and sorting out the Dobber leagues, my sick kid’s treatment being suspended, necessitating an unscheduled hospital visit this week and the biggest pile of BS I have ever had at work over getting the time to take my kid to the hospital, I don’t think I’ve ever had so many things in my head at the same time. I tend to obsessively think about one thing at a time. Multiple things really screw me up. I had real trouble buying a coffee one morning because I couldn’t get my brain into a “buying coffee” track.

P7, that was one of your best write ups yet - or maybe it was just a lot more entertaining because I was a part of it. You got a vocal laugh out of me in the Round 20 summary.

Went into this as always with a couple of outline strategies (Forwards first, make sure I have enough goalies, well rounded D), and a short bit of research into some pre-ranking, but that was it... oh, and a beer! (For those of you in Southern Ontario I've discovered this new spot in Bracebridge that has free shipping across the province on over $75 orders - Their Overdraft Saison is my new favourite brew.)

This is such a great league to draft in, because as P7 mentioned, LOTR, Temek, and P7 himself are some of the hardest guys to draft alongside. Horrofan autografts so well that no one is ever left sitting there for too long, and from playing against them the last few years in these leagues I have a huge respect for some of the other guys like Max, Filip, and the other two Mikes.

*Pro tip, if you want to do a yahoo mock for a 12 team league, draft in a 14 team mock and that's usually the quality of players left at each of your picks in the top 150 or so.*

    On to the picks!
    Round 1 - Andrei Svechnikov
I had Vas, Matthews, and Eichel ahead of him in that order, and was actually kind of hoping I would end up with Svech anyways because he does it all. G, SOG, +/-, Hits, PPP - all elite.

    Round 2 - Brad Marchand
In all my mocks I ended up with him here, and he's a first round talent. Simple.

    Round 3 - Mikko Rantanen
I was expecting one of the top four D here, but the last two (Josi/Hamilton) went with the two picks before me. Hurts even more that my guy Josi was one pick away. (You can give as good as you get P7.) Couldn't pass up loading up my offence with another possible first round talent.

    Round 4 - John Tavares
Well, I was expecting to have a Dman by now, but there were none worth grabbing here over the forwards, and unexpectedly the top G were not slipping. With some high end offence booked, I can focus on other positions, and focus I did...

Round 5-7 - Tristan Jerry, Philip Grubauer, Pavel Francouz
Knew I couldn't wait too much longer on goalies, and Jarry was the last in my higher tier of volume starters on decent teams. Getting Grubs a round later was a gamble that Francouz would last, and since he did I managed to lock up 90 starts with likely at least 60 of them being wins. Figured I could grab DeSmith way later.
    *Narrator's voice: "He thought wrong"*

Rounds 8-10 Shea Weber, Zach Werenski, Tomas Chabot
I had Ryan Pulock and Shea Weber as the top two D on my list and I thought Pulock was the more likely of the two to slip another round. He didn't - the first of a ton of D stolen by Yellow Dogs. Locking up the top half of my D with three high scorers was great, and combined they don't hurt me too much in any of the peripherals.

Rounds 11-12 Evgeny Kuznetsov, Ben Bishop
I was not expecting to take either of these two players in any draft this season let alone in this league, but there was too much possible value here to pass up. One of the top 10 starters in the league for half of a season and a 70-point C? Sure, why not! Having just missed Kaprizov I didn't have a lot else in my queue that I was hugely looking forward to right away anyways.

    Round 13 - Alexis Lafreniere
Sergachev got taken two picks before me, and apparently he was at the top of P7's list too so he definitely wasn't making it to me. Decided to swing on the upside of Laf.

    Round 14-15 - Jake Muzzin
A little short on hits, I knew I would have to cover that later in the draft. Muzzin doesn't get PPPs, but I should be covered well enough there anyways. Suter is similarly not flashy, but effective. D was really starting to thin out.

    Round 16 - Joe Pavelski
I knew I needed another F and Joe's combination of PP exposure, hits, and a solid floor made him the safest pick. I also had a sneaking suspicion he would be gone by my next selection.

    Round 17 - Josh Anderson
Banking on the injury rebound and the new team adrenaline. A 25 goal and 200 hit 82-game-pace would be amazing. At worst it's a 15/150 pace. Had top-line-winger Burakovsky all lined up until he went three picks before me.

    Round 18 - Pavel Buchnevich
Doubling down on the NYR winger situation, and Buch looks ready to pop on that top line. Was sad to miss out on Cernak.

    Round 20 - Robert Thomas
Gotta have guys on your teams that you enjoy, and after missing Josi I wanted one of my other favourites in Thomas. P7 and I are probably the two biggest Robert Thomas fans out there. It's going to be a goooood year from him! Now he just needs to be on that top PP all season.

    Round 21 - Ryan Reaves
I told you, I needed hits...

Round 22-23 Noah Dobson, Chris Dreidger
Trying to make sure I can fill out games at D and G, and these two offered some sure games plus upside. Projected goalie starts: 125 - good enough.

    Round 24 - Nikita Zadorov
I think he leads the league in hits this year. Huge minutes on a CHI team that will never have the puck. Hoping his +/- balances out with Reaves.

    Round 25 - Mikhail Grigorenko
"Do you know who has two thumbs and finds a first line [winger] and PP1 forward in round 25... yeah, it's this guy.
    -Michael"
    -Alex MacLean

All in all, happy with the team, and it should be a competitive year! I don't think it's quite a first overall team, but hopefully with a few moves throughout the year coupled with a bit of luck, I can get there.

    Some added thoughts here:

Default Re: 2021 Dobber Expert Stanley League

    Last Resort

C - Matthews, Monahan, Kadri, Horvat
LW - RNH, Zucker, Palat, Lindblom
RW - DeBrincat, Hornqvist, Atkinson, DeBrusk
D - Hamilton, Rielly, Dumba, Sergachev. Severson, R.Andersson
    G - Binnington, Lehner, Kuemper
BN - Vatrano, Dvorak, Orlov, Mangiapane

These dobber leagues use weekly adds which makes replacing injured players much harder and you can't easily just pick up backup for that B2B for extra start either. Combine that with Yahoo only allowing lowering max GP to 65 and if it stays there, I don't expect single team to fully hit their max GP for skaters and even if it's fixed to 56 GP, it might get hard to reach it as I am expecting a lot of missed games due to Covid and with weekly adds you simply can't replace them. So that lead me to go for a more similar strategy to H2H leagues to only draft starting goalies and preferably three of them and then try to maximize skater GP. Three starting goalies should be enough to finish pretty high on W,SVS.

    1. (6) Auston Matthews (Tor - C)

I would have considered Vasilevski if he didn't go before my pick, but he went so that I was left to choose from Matthews and Eichel. I don't think there's much of a difference, but Matthews was little higher ranked.

    2. (19) Jordan Binnington (StL - G)

I was hoping I'd get Stamkos or B.Tkachuk here, but wasn't that close to happening which wasn't really surprise. I did think about picking Zibanejad or one of Hamilton/Josi/Hedman, but decided to go for a goalie. There were quite a few options here, but slightly preferred Binnington out of all the options.

    3. (30) Dougie Hamilton (Car - D)

I did think little about Malkin/M.Tkachuk, but opted to go for Hamilton as I am really high on him and he's in fact top ranked D.

    4. (43) Robin Lehner (VGK - G)

Pre-draft I was looking at Burns or Hall here I would have taken Hall if P7 didn't snipe him just before so that left me with Barkov, RNH, Rielly and a few goalie options with Lehner as the top candidate. I was pretty confident RNH would be available at least 1 round if not 2-3 rounds later and I was already considering Lehner in the 2nd round so happy to pick up another starting goalie in a good team.

    5. (54) Morgan Rielly (Tor - D)

It was about 50/50 with RNH and Rielly, but I thought it was far more likely RNH would drop to my next pick so went with Rielly.

    6. (67) Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Edm - C,LW)

RNH was still there and I didn't have any wingers yet either so really happy to get him.

    7. (78) Darcy Kuemper (Ari - G)

Plan was to wait little later for a third goalie and pick up someone like Talbot, Gibson, Bobrovsky, Ullmark or Koskinen few rounds later. I am really high on Kuemper though and didn't want anyone else to get him here or later either so picked him up. I did also consider some skater options like Barrie, E.Lindholm and Marchessault

    8. (91) Alex DeBrincat (Chi - LW,RW)

I was also looking at some other options like Monahan and Chabot as well, but I really needed to fill some winger slots so went with DeBrincat who I have a lot of faith in bouncing back into 70+ pts full season pace.

    9. (102) Sean Monahan (Cgy - C)

I did also think about DeAngelo, Chabot and maybe even J.Benn if I wanted winger, but decided to pick up second C before 3rd D.

    10. (115) Nazem Kadri (Col - C)

I really wanted D here, but DeAngelo and Chabot went B2B in the last two picks before me and I was not happy that I didn't take one of them last round. I did look into Ekblad, Giordano and Bjorkstrand as well, but opted to get Kadri instead.

    11. (126) Bo Horvat (Van - C)

Thinking about it after the draft I am not sure why I went with Horvat instead of Ekblad. Probably the pick I would most like to re-do as this locked me in at 4C already and this essentially led me to passing on some nice value C picks later, especially Cirelli and W.Karlsson. Of course I could have just drafted them and try to go trade route/hope for one of the C to get wing eligibility, but I am not a big fan of doing that.

    12. (139) Matt Dumba (Min - D)

I had 4 C and 3 G so this was going to be D/W draft for quite a few rounds from now on. I did consider Radulov, Rust and Sergachev as well, but thought they were more likely to be available later on so picked up Dumba.

    13. (150) Mikhail Sergachev (TB - D)

Sergachev is still here from last round targets so picked him up. This was my 4th D and I only had two wingers on the team so I really needed to go fully wingers for a few rounds.

    14. (163) Jason Zucker (Pit - LW,RW)

Best winger available and I was considering between Zucker, Palat, Hornqvist and Suzuki and went with Zucker.

    15. (174) Ondrej Palat (TB - LW)

Palat and Hornqvist are still there so picked up Palat.

    16. (187) Patric Hornqvist (Fla - RW)

Wing picks continue with Hornqvist this time around. W.Karlsson was still here too and I was really considering picking him up even if I have 4 C already.

    17. (198) Cam Atkinson (Cls - RW)

I had Atkinson, DeBrusk, Vatrano, Severson and Cernak pretty similarly rated, but I was more confident in others being available later so went with Atkinson.

    18. (211) Damon Severson (NJ - D)

Cernak went so opted to pick up Severson.

    19. (222) Jake DeBrusk (Bos - LW,RW)

Just filling out winger spots with best winger available.

    20. (235) Rasmus Andersson (Cgy - D)
    21. (246) Oskar Lindblom (Phi - LW)
    22. (259) Frank Vatrano (Fla - LW,RW)
    23. (270) Christian Dvorak (Ari - C,LW)
    24. (283) Dmitry Orlov (Was - D)
    25. (294) Andrew Mangiapane (Cgy - LW,RW)

Just some late round fillers and I tried to get youngish guys with upside or opportunity for bigger role and hope for the best. Florida lost some wingers from their Top6 so Vatrano could have some opportunities. Seems like Backlund was demoted to 3C with Lindholm playing 2C so that might open Top6 wing spot for Mangiapane and Lindblom was playing really well last season before his issues cut his season short so I see decent potential there. Stepan being traded might also open bigger role for Dvorak and Orlov was just some filler D I picked up.

Pretty decent team overall with somewhat light on wings and I might have gone too too goal-heavy and lacking some assists, but trading is always there if needed. Goalie situation also requires watching as some other teams went pretty heavy on goalies so it's possible I might have to pick up another goalie at some point to stay high enough in W,SVS.

    Another Dobber league, another autodraft...

Having to pre-rank for an autodraft in such a competitive league is not easy, but I try to ensure I have enough depth to keep me competitive. The balance is always tricky because, even if you know some drafters, you really don't know who's going to fall your way as the rounds move on. Even with the first pick, that was pretty much the only player that I knew I was getting.

After my first pick, I knew with the settings, the way Yahoo autodrafts starters then bench, and the max games being higher than usual, I had to get two starting goalies. I had thought about not aiming for two at the 24/25 turn (that might've changed things, eh Peng? ), but the risk was too high not to take it and would make ranking even more difficult.

From there, I was hoping for good balance both by position and categories. How did that turn out? Here's my team:

    Let The Reit ONe IN

C: MacKinnon, Barkov, Scheifele, Backstrom, Hayes
    L: Bjorkstrand (R), Rust (R), Toffoli (R), Kapanen (R), Niederreiter (R)
R: Konecny, Wilson, Voracek, Suzuki (C), Tuch (L)
D: Karlsson, Jones, Doughty, Subban, Gustafsson, Ekholm, Keith
    G: Andersen, Price, Rinne

As I had feared when working on my draft list, I'm centre heavy. I knew that risk and I still chose MacKinnon, mainly because he's one of the best for SOG and likely those that would follow on my squad would be weaker there (as it turned out).

At wing, I'm not as strong but there's a mix of potential breakouts and bouncebacks that could help keep me competitive. However, the flip side is mediocrity if there are a few disappointments.

On D, similar to wings, some good potential but also some older players that need to at least maintain previous production to give me a chance.

Finally, I got my two starting goalies and a capable backup to get some starts. Probably not ideal that both my starters play in the same division, but they should get a lot of shots so hopefully helping in the saves category, with a good amount of wins between them.

My initial assessment is a mid table team that could contend if several things go right. But, if the bouncebacks don't happen, I might be in a battle to avoid relegation.

This was my last draft (#12) of the season and definitely one where I just relaxed and enjoyed the moment. It's always fun matching wits with some of the best minds in fantasy hockey and this draft was no exception. Many of us, as mentioned earlier in this thread, bump heads in other leagues (including the Rockey Horror Roto Show - IMO the crème de la crème of rotisserie hockey play) so we generally know each other's tendencies. I notice that Temek and I in particular seem to be working off of the same draft list in recent years - the only difference is where we focus on finding positional value. Finding value relative to your league's scoring categories is the key to competing.

My focus for this draft was to make sure I locked down goalie value early - meaning I want to snag 2 high volume goalies that own their respective creases in the first four rounds. As P7 mentioned, these are categories nearly impossible to make up ground post draft without paying a premium. I also wanted to focus early on a skaters that provide category coverage with a focus on those players that like to shoot the puck a lot and hit other players. Good things happen in both real and fantasy hockey when you shoot the puck and hit the other guy. Going into the draft we each knew our draft position and could plan accordingly. I always prefer the 4-5 slot in 12-player pools as I can pretty much drive my draft agenda. Instead for this draft I have the crappy 11 slot - meaning I get the leftovers from round 1 and I can potentially get burned big time during the inevitable goalie and defensemen runs. Also after I turn my corner I have to wait A LONG TIME for my next pick. The nice part is that I have lots of time to build my queue (only to see it generally evaporate by the time it comes back to me). This draft position reinforced my plan to come away with those two workhorse goalies in the first 4 rounds. Also, because I'm essentially drafting in pairs, I need to have 2 guys lined up that I want/need.

RD1 & RD2: I put the following in my queue based on what I believed to be their availability: Eichel/Mathews/Marchand/Vas/B.Tkachuk/Kane/Panarin/Carlson/Hellebuyck
Vas went #4 (a tad soon given the skater talent available IMO but kudos to sticking with your plan) and Mathews, Eichel and Panarin went before my turn. I didn't hesitate by taking young Tkachuk as he's definitely a top 10 asset in this league's scoring categories - he covers all cats and provides an elite level combination of SOG and HIT. I was tempted to take Carlson on my corner turn but stuck to my plan and drafted Hellebuyck as my #1 goalie.

RD3 & RD4: Again I'm looking for value and my pre-draft targets for these 2 rounds were Hamilton, Josi, Pacioretty, Wheeler, Hall, and best goalie available. Wheeler, Josi, Hamilton went before me - I was tempted to take both Pacioretty and Hall but opted to stick to my plan and took Max and Markstrom. I believe solidifying your goaltending early when playing with the big boys is critical as it gives you lots of flexibility for the rest of the draft. For the next four rounds my focus is building my core (category coverage skaters and/or PPP d-men).

RD5 & RD6: I wanted to get 4 of the following group in the next four rounds: Letang / Rielly /Schenn / Lindholm / Meier / Nurse / Larkin / Marchessault / Barrie
I was able to pick up Schenn in RD5 and Nurse in RD6 and...
    RD7: Lindholm
    RD8: Barrie

At this point in the draft I'm very happy with my team's balance and I've set my foundation. My goaltending is solid in terms of volume starters and I've got a core group of skaters who provide category coverage. I can focus on finding value to plug holes and fill positions from here on in.

RD9: With the compressed schedule and teams carrying 3 goalies, I wanted to snag a 3rd starting goalie. I had several lined up and when one in my queue was taken that's my red flag to take the next one - in this case I had Gibson / Talbot / Varlamov ready. Gibson is a great goalie on a bad team in a bad division, Talbot is mediocre but plays on a good defensive team, Varlamov is like Talbot but with a back-up primed to steal his job. Once P7 took Talbot that was my blinking light to take Gibson. At this point in the draft I'm REALLY REALLY happy and feeling warm & fuzzy that I'll be able to max out my goalie stats.

RD10 and beyond: Really from here on in, I'm just filling positional and/or category needs (the house is built, let's fill it with furniture). Everyone is looking for d-men, goalies and skaters with upside. I'm focusing on same with a slight fading on centers.

RD10: Jamie Benn (C/LW) Note: I love me them duel-positional players!
RD11: Trouba (D) Good with his category coverage / great if he ever gets more PP time.
RD12: Ekblad (D) Bye bye Yandle, hello PP1 for Ekblad.
    RD13 R. Strome (C/RW) Skating with Panarin. (I hope.)
RD14: Rakell (LW/RW) Best player on a bad team.
RD15: Seguin (C/RW) Stick 'im on IR and hopefully get an elite player off the bench in 2 months.
RD16 Oshie (RW) Swiss army knife winger.
RD17 Gusev (LW/RW) This guy scored at 60-pt pace during last half of the season on a really bad team.
RD18 Cernak (D) He shoots. He hits.
RD19 Johansen (C) My first 'pure' center - did I mention I tend to fade centers?
RD20 Jake Allen (G) Montreal wants Price well rested.
RD21 Matheson (D) When (not if) Letang get injured he'll get the first chance to run PP1.
RD22 Bjugstad (C/RW) Some upside here as he's currently Minnie's #1 center between Parise and Kaprisov.
RD23 Eric Staal (C) Meh. (Because I tend to fade centers.)
RD24 Gurianov (LW/RW) Somebody on Dallas is going to score goals and he scored 20+ last season.
RD25 Granlund (LW/RW) He fell of the map last season but should have an opportunity to rebound on a scoring line with Nashville. (If not, he's my 25th pick for chrissake.)

My team: Lord of the Rinks
    C: Benn (C/LW), R. Strome (C/RW), Johansen, E. Staal
LW: B. Tkachuk, Pacioretty, Rakell (LW/RW), Gusev (LW/RW)
    RW: B. Schenn (C/RW), Lindholm (C/RW), Oshie, Gurianov (LW/RW)
D: Barrie, Nurse, Trouba, Eckblad, Cernak, Matheson
    G: Hellebuyck, Markstrom, Gibson, Allen
    B: Seguin (C/RW - IR), Bjugstad (C/RW), Granlund (LW/RW)

I didn't realize until after draft that I didn't even draft 4 forwards with center eligibility... I have three!
So if you see a decent positional swap - let me know. I'd prefer to have at least 5 at each F position to balance same-night play.

I also forgot (totally!) to consider same-night-goalie play.
My 3 goalie tandems (CAR, WAS, MIN) don't jive great... so considering offloading one tandem.

Not sure if you are interested at all in those two items.

Congrats again on another amazing autodraft!
I couldn't do that. (Though... the 1 draft and the turn... always helps!)
