I like Raanta to bounceback.
Jake Allen
Antti Raanta
I am in a deep 24 team head to head salary cap points league with the following rules:
20 player rosters (3C, 6W, 3F, 6D, 2G)
3 Bench Spots
Full Minor Teams (Less than 100 NHL Games Played)
Points system:
G = 4
A = 2
Blk = 0.5
FOW = 0.1
Hit = 0.5
+/- = 1
SOG = 0.5
PPP = 1
SHP = 2
Win = 6
Shootout Loss = 3
Shutout = 6
Save = 0.25
Goal Against = -2
I expect (hope?) to compete for a championship. My initial plan was to punt the goalie stats and run Husso and Stalock (at a combined $1.5M) as my goalies but Stalock's injury has ruined that plan. I also have Antti Raanta and Jake Allen but I don't want to keep them both and have $9.5M of our $90,000,000 cap used up on goalies. I have similar trade offers for Raanta and Allen on the board (mid round pick + a prospect or a pick). Last season Allen had 5.95 points per game for 142.75 points while Raanta had 5.41 points per game for 178.5 points. They both have similar contracts for the upcoming season.
Which one of the two should I keep?

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I honestly believe Jake Allen is the better goalie here and is playing on the better team as well. I dont know if he gets as many starts but I do think Montreal is prepared to play their backup more this year than any other previous. They wouldn't be spending $4.35M to see him sit, especially in a funked up year like we're about to see. Im not sure he plays as much, but the results when he does play should be better than Raanta.
I'd go with Allen here.

Price hasn't had a big injury in awhile, so if you like to play the numbers... Allen might be a top 10-15 G, lol. And that's the Voodoo we call fantasy hockey goalies... Further voodoo is that the exact same thing could be said for Raanta since Kuemper may be more a BAB than Price having played more than 31 games in a single season once, ever... maybe go with Allen because Raanta, Kuemper and Price are injury risks and Allen has at least been mostly healthy in his career.
10 Team H2H Points (Keep 1C, 2W, 2D, 1G, & 1 non-goalie):
G,A,+/-, PIM, PPG, SHG, GWG, OTG, FOWs, Hits, Blks, Maj, Mis, (bonus scoring for D-men makes them comparable to Wing)

G: Georgiev, Binnington, Kochetkov, Andersen (IR)
Raanta replacing Kuemper seems more likely than Allen replacing Price.

(Edit: I posted Allen originally... but I don't know. That Western Division has SJ, LA, ANA, MIN. Those are some good win% games for ARI. Montreal only has 50%+ win chances against OTT... they'll be in tough against other teams.)
It's close to a coin-flip for me.
Probably the upside with Raanta is better... and ARI D, if healthy, is pretty good.
I feel Raanta is the better goalie in the weaker division, and also has a much less entrenched starter in front of him.
Last year was Allen's career year. He's never been close to that good.

Update to this post.
I ended up making two trades which resulted in me giving up Antti Raanta, Carter Vergaeghe and a 2nd round pick in exchange for Cam Talbot and 2 4th round picks. Did I improve my team?
Well - for sure.
You are quite high on Talbot... so long as he doesn't lose his #1 gig, and assuming MIN's top 6F score some goals... then they should be a better team than Raanta (where there is challenge of Kuemper).
Thumbs up.
I think that was a good deal.
