Deadline has passed for new entries. Still have a few follow-ups that have a bit of time to correct themselves.

EDIT - I think all of the edits are in, so the file should be final. Let me know if there are any issues ASAP. 43 entries. If you sent something and your name isn't below, send me an e-mail ([email protected]).

Now that all the entries are in (42, one was a double), I figure I'd throw some stats!

    - Only 9 players were picked outside the 'big 5' of CAN, FIN, RUS, SWE, USA - Rossi (AUS); Mysak, Has, Teply, Svozil, Kubicek (CZE); Stutzle and JJ Paterka (GER) and Inaki Baragano (SUI). Stutzle was picked 23 times (will be fun to see how that goes with Germany having so many players missing games due to COVID), Rossi and Mysak 10 each, the rest all 5 or less. Slovakia is the only unrepresented country (they usually have a one-off or two but not this time I guess!).
    - Stutzle (24) was also picked more often than all 5 of the Czech Republic (20) picks combined
    - Following the analysis I did pre-tournament, there were 8 players on more than 80% of the rosters. Drysdale, Lundell and Holtz (40), Amirov, Askarov, Broberg and Kaliyev (38), and Sanderson (35).
    - The most represented country is Canada (210 picks out of 924, 22.7$), followed closely by the USA (204, 22.1%), then Russia (173, 18.7%), Sweden (153, 16.6) and Finland (128, 13.9%).
    - The country with the most players picked is also unsurprisingly Canada (18), which I imagine is caused in part to scrambling to figure out their goaltending (both Garand and Levi picked), and the Dach injuty. USA and Finland both have 16 players picked, and Russia and Sweden each have 14. See point 1 for the other 4 countries.

There were 6 goalies picked, with Yaroslav Askarov (38) and Spencer Knight (29) leading the charge. Levi (8) and Garand (2) represent Canada, and Alnefelt (5) and Wallstedt (1) represent Sweden. Interesting that there's only 10 goalie picks from Group A (CAN, FIN, SUI, SVK, GER), so I wonder how many points were lost from the tough competition in group B (RUS, SWE, USA, SZE, AUS), but we're here to find out!.

Everything can be found here, as usual:

    Dec 25th Standings:

Kind of surprising to me that the Russian 5 goal win only led to 1g, 3a and a goalie win in the pool, but with no one picking Ponomaryov and 2 unassisted goals, I guess that's just what happens.

I honestly felt really good about my whole roster besides my last defenceman. Decided to throw a dart at Simon Kubicek. Kid gets health bombed in the first game

Anyone have any specific strategy this year? I just went simple. Grab the two Newfies. Then players I either know or have on my rosters or were drafted by the Habs. Load all up on a few teams instead of spreading it around like I normally do (I have five Canadians, five Americans, four Swedes, four Russians, three Fins and a Czech).

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

My strategy was to take the easy guys to choose that wasn't captains, then watch the couple pre-tourney games and see who's PP1 on certain teams and go with that.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

Same as I usually do, which is focus on the top 2 teams from each group as they're more likely to play the extra final medal games. This year I figured it was CAN-FIN and RUS-USA (SWE as a wildcard).
    Then just
I usually pick the goalie for the top team of each group but with RUS-USA being close and their goaltending an easy bet rather than gamble on Canada's goalies (no clear starter, could change mid-tournament like last year). Then just kind of pick guys who will get the ice-time to get points. And sometimes I just whiff (Abramov over Chinakov was a bad call). Then just loaded up on those 5 teams. Considered one-off picks for guys like Rossi/Stutzle/Mysak, but:

    - Austria is in the group of death with USA/RUS/SWE/CZE and is unlikely to score much, and will probably not get the playoff games.
    - Germany had covid issues which means that yes, Stutzle might get a ton of minutes for points, but also get exhausted/have no support.
    - Mysak was a consideration but ultimately I just had players on the big teams I could still add up front.

I mean, I've never won but always been competitive and bitten by a heart-whiff (see - Abramov instead of an actually playing Russian forward) but picking the right captain + goalies will do a lot more work, and that's usually a bit less lucky (but still lucky).

Add it to the list of my last minute swaps biting me in the ass.

Cozens for Zegras, Chinakov for Abramov, Tomasino/Krebs for Quinn/Byfield. Regrets all around.

I think there was a couple Finland goalies picked.

I saw someone had Blomqvsit. And I picked Pairionen... which I notice there was no points for him and his win.

    thanks

Haha I even selected the wrong Canadian goalie by accident this year on the drop down menu. Likely won't make a difference anyways but I can't believe the things I do to myself in this pool every year!
