Kaprizov or Lafreniere if you want immediate impact.
In a points only league, who would you take if available.
I’m looking for a player with immediate impact.
Laf looks he will start on the 3rd line and mix of PP2 to start and PP1.
Byfield May just get 9 games and get sent down?
Zegras another year away?
Kaprizov scheduled for 1st line and mix of pp1 pp2.
Kaprizov or Lafreniere if you want immediate impact.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
Lafreniere all day. Even if it means sacrifying few points this year, which should be minimized with a shorten season. And there is no guarantee it will happen this way.
I don't think any of these players will have a significant impact in this shortened, upcoming season. That said, the best bets imo are Kaprizov and Lafreniere. Kaprizov is already 23 years old, and I feel he is guaranteed top line and top PP minutes in Minnesota. I think he will pace for around 60 pts over an 82 game schedule. Not bad for a rookie. Long-term, his potential is closer to ppg, I think.
Lafreniere is a truly elite talent, imo, with potential for 100 pts long-term. I think he will pace for around 50 pts over an 82 game schedule, if he gets sheltered a bit. He may not get top 6 minutes and top power play time in year one with Panarin, Zibanejad, and other veterans ahead of him on the depth chart (unlike Kaprizov), but he is so talented that it is just a matter of time. And, it is entirely possible that he isn't sheltered from the get-go and explodes right away for 70 pts (over 82 games) in his first year.
Bottom-line, the "safest" option in year one is Kaprizov because he is guaranteed all the ice-time and opportunity possible. However, Lafreniere has potential for more both short and long-term, with "slightly" higher risk in year one.

Even in “win now” philosophy, it’s kinda dumb to fully ignore the future. Take Lafreniere if you have the opportunity.

I won’t say it’s dumb but agree with the Doctor here. I don’t know that Laf is on the Same level as what I think AM34 and Eichel are, but look at what Both have done (one surrounded by a ton Of young talent (much like NYR) and...well... let’s just focus on AM34’s game and first season. The youngsters of the utmost caliber can impact now and long term.
At the very, very least, Lafreniere would be the better trading chip. If you truly wanted JUST THIS YEAR, there’s probably a GM who would trade you Crosby or P. Kane or Hedman for Laf, and no way you get this return for Kaprizov.
That is entirely possible. Every league is different, but one thing for sure is that there is always hype around rookies, especially first overall selections. Long-term, I think it would be silly to give up Lafreniere for a 30+ year old, even if that player is Crosby or Kane. That said, if the league is new and there is lots of turnover or the league won't be around in a year or two, why not.
In my particular league, which has been around for over 20 years and will likely be around for the next 20 (with the same members, no less), players like Lafreniere are fantasy gold. Heck, I recently offered Kucherov for Matvey Michkov (a very highly-touted 2023 draftee) but was turned down.
