Default Affordable forwards and Defencemen available

    Hello Everyone,

We will proceed shortly our re-draft and there is a few players available (I won the 1st draft pick and gonna draft Lafrenière)

    Forwards:
Fiala (by a long shot). Higher upside and already at the 70 point mark.
Bjorkstrand. On of the highest upsides on the list and entering breakout territory
Perron. Steadily 70 point pace for past three years. Downside: a bit expensive relative to your list.

    Defense:
Pulock - good chance at 50 points this year
McAvoy - good chance at 45 points this year
Petry - lock for 40+ points this year

Everyone else seems in the ballpark but with a lower floor.

My favourite three forwards, in order, depending on budget available:
    Fiala ($3.0m)
    Beauvillier ($2.1m)
    Yamamoto ($0.9m)

Defenseman are generally never a "deal" in fantasy hockey because the real world dollars they are paid for "defending" just doesn't translate into any fantasy statistic.
But I have pretty big expectations of Charlie McAvoy with the minutes available from Krug (& maybe Chara) departure.

Thanks, yes Fiala is the best quality/price. He will probably be unavailable in the 2nd round unfortunately.

Could it be a good strategy to draft Yamamoto and Puljujarvi (2m$ in total) as backup to cover the right wing of the Oilers?

Not if you think one will get the mins and the other will not. If you feel they will both be valuable then yes draft them both. Puljujarvi is a long shot but could be a good late round pick. I’m not sold on him yet.

Fiala for sure is number one. I grabbed him this off-season for my cap league. Getting a player who paced for 70 pts last year, just entering his prime years, for $3.5 million is awesome. I suspect he will pace for 70+ pts (over 82 games) again this coming (shortened) season, especially playing with Kaprizov. The only downside to Fiala is that his contract is up after this season, and if he does pace for 70+ pts again, he will be inline for a massive salary increase. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets $7+ million a year on his next contract, which in cap leagues significantly lowers his value.

Yamamoto is a player I covet in my upcoming draft. At less than a million, and pacing for 70+ pts last season, he could continue where he left off and be a steal. There is a risk there, especially with Puljujarvi around to potentially take up a top 6 role, but I still feel Yamamoto is a lock on the wing with Draisaitl and RNH, which gives him a low floor. Even without first unit power play time, I can't see Yamamoto scoring under 55 pts (pro-rated for 82 games), which is awesome value given his salary.

I also have Kaprizov, so it could be a good One-Two punch some nights.
Both of them are left winger according to hockeydb, is there a risk that they will play in separate line?

If you had the opportunity to draft those 6 players in 2nd round, which order of priority you would rank them : Fiala (3.0m), Pulock (5.0m), McAvoy (4.9m), Yamamoto (0.9m), Hall (8.0m) and Bjorkstrand (2.5m)

Hall is so hard to rank because his salary is vastly different from the others. He will score the most points, but at 2.3x the salary of Fiala and 8.9x the salary of Yamamoto, it is near impossible for me to say if he is worth the money in your league. It totally depends on your cap space. In my particular league, for example, I have the cap space so I'd take Hall over Yamamoto, but probably not Fiala. Part of that reasoning, however, is that Hall is on a one-year deal and he will be phenomenal (I think) in Buffalo on Eichel's wing, but if he goes elsewhere the year after, his production may drop.

I have the cap space to fit Hall and Marner/Matthews
But all the other teams are tight on their cap space, so it's possible that Hall will be available in 3rd and 4th round.

By taking Fiala, Yamamoto or Bjorkstrand it will blocked some other GM
