    Default Brannstrom

So I was a bit surprised by the Dobber guide’s 3yp projection for Brannstrom. 48, I believe it was. In my mind, there’s no way he steals Chabot’s PP minutes, and I don’t see Chabot being moved any time soon. I’ve always been a Brannstrom fan, but I just can’t see those kinds of numbers happening for him in Ottawa. I usually trust Dobber’s projections, I’m just having a hard time with this one. Thoughts?

There's plenty of opportunity for Brannstrom to score 48 pts within the next three years while Chabot still maintains the most PP minutes on the team. It is not uncommon for teams to have two offensive dmen put up decent numbers.

Heck, given Brannstrom's talent, he could be on the top unit with Chabot, or it could be a situation where Brannstrom runs PP2 and Chabot PP1 and they both gets lots of points (like Heiskanen and Klingberg in Dallas).

Also remember that the projection is but one point within a galaxy of potential outcomes. Chabot gets hurt, Chabot becomes ineffective, Senators' PPs 1 and 2 both elevate either through coaching, luck, or rapid player development. Who knows what will happen. Brannstrom certainly has offensive talent that could support a 48 pt pace. Place your bets.

i would not be at least bit surprised if Brannstrom is runing that PP in 3 years and not Chabot. I can see Chabot being used in more in defensive situations while they become more complete, competitive team. Brannstrom is a great offensive talent, he is just scratching a surface.

I'm with the OP in terms of the "situation" not looking ideal for maximizing Brannstrom's output.

That said, I do think there's space for him to 'peak' at that total, even without a Chabot injury.

Just looking at NSH last year, Josi hit 65 (in 69) and Ellis hit 38 (in 49). I'll let a mathamagician crunch the numbers, but it strikes me the scenario could have played out in a full season.

In fairness, that's NSH though, where F's point-totals go to die... so fair question whether it could be repeated in OTT.

    Great question to discuss!
