    Cool Help with drafting goalies

    Keep 6. H2H scoring 12 teams

Goalies categories: Wins, sv%, gaa, shut outs

I did the unthinkable and kept 6 forwards.
    I have picks 5, 20, 29, 44, 45 and then once a round.
All 4 teams ahead of me in round 1 kept 2 goalies each.

I feel I need to draft 2 goalies and 1 Dman in the first 3 picks.

Dobber Tier 1 available: Kuemper, Samsonov,
Tier 2: Holtby, Bobrovsky, Saros, Blackwood, Varlamov, Ullmark, Koskinen, Sorokin

FHG list: Kuemper, Khudobin, Francouz, Raanta, Saros, Samsonov, Bob, Rinne, Koskinen, Blackwood, Delia, Sorokin

My thoughts: Kuemper ? I like Samsonov, will Bobrovsky rebound, what about Holtby in Vancouver,
take Saros get Rinne later, take Varlamov take Sorokin later.

Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated.

How many goalies total were kept?

What D are available that are first round worthy?

I would go with a goalie for your first pick. My ranking would be:

    Kuemper
Khudobin (sneaky value with Bishop's injury)
    Samsonov

Then I'd go for a D-man with your next pick, lots of good options:

    Karlsson
    Theodore
    Peitrangelo
Barrie (not good periphs, but could explode on oil PP)
    Letang
    Pulock

    Then another goalie:

Some good handcuff options if you can secure it.

I'm not taking a goalie with your first pick. Yes, I'm serious.

I'm kind of guessing at the distribution of goalie keepers here, but there are 11 teams who aren't you. At least 4 kept 2 goalies, per your prior post, and all 4 of those pick before you in round 1. So no goalies are going to them, unless they are relatively crazy. That's 8 of 16.

Of the 7 teams after you, they have a combined 8 goalie keepers, so at least one more is full on goalies. Most have at least 1 goalie, since 8 > 7. If every team has one goalie now, I seriously doubt more than 1 or 2 get picked before your second pick if this is a non-snake draft. If it is a snake draft, only some will go goalie in round 2, and nobody with two goalies is likely to grab a 3rd early. Which means you could wait until round 3 to take a goalie if a snake draft, and you prefer skaters.

I'd probably take Letang if he's there over a goalie. He's great in the format, and with 16/24 goalie spots locked up in keepers, I'd get the guy who might be the best skater available. He's pretty certainly the best D.

I hear you, was thinking close to the same after your questions.
After I looked at the numbers if I took a goalie with my first pick the few top dmen will be gone before I have my second pick. I had been thinking Letang then see what goes before my 2nd pick .

Draft goes 1-12 then 12-1 and so on.
