As an Oilers fan, I'll chime in.
I don't think the Oilers have a true #1. I think both guys will play close to equally. Neither guy is a stud per se, but both were steady last season. People chirp the Oilers GM for bringing Smith back but I didn't have a big problem with it. It's for $1.5M for one year, and a chance to get up to $2M with bonuses. If he gets to those bonus levels then that's a "bonus" for Edmonton too because that means he played well. I'm good with that. Sometimes the Devil you know isn't a bad thing. Anyone think they were getting anything better for $1.5M is out to lunch. You can see who signed where for what.
Koskinen is a good goalie, not a great one. He'll get his starts. I'd expect similar numbers to last year. He's not the long term answer there. If he was, Holland wouldn't have gone all in on Markstrom.
