A 27yr old had his breakout yr, and had only 1 other yr that was good points wise. No way the Rangers wanted anything but this style of bridge deal. Prove you're a late bloomer.

I'll take it, the likes of Granlund would've commanded the same if not more if they let Strome walk. Two years for a young buck to potentially ascend to the second line center role and maybe bump him down to what his ideal role is which is a top end third line center.
I think that's a fair contract for him & the Rangers.
Gets them to Laf/Kakko contract re-up periods... which will require $$$ to open up.
One good year doesn't sell me after so many disappointing years.
Considering how he was cast-off from Edm not that long ago.
One of the best deals I've seen. A 3rd year and I start to sour a bit based on the years of under performing
Really gives him a chance to show he's for real.

The deal suits both parties
Strome can unpack his bags for at least a season and half
NY can look forward to rolling 2 serious scoring lines
Then perhaps look to sell Strome off at the 22 deadline OR even look to add as who knows how KK & AL will improve by then
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.
